Any interest in a Welliver weight sweepstakes?

On 12th November Kiwi Chauncy Welliver --the dude in this piccy who makes Odlanier Solis look like a ripped Adonis:

Image--

will face Lucas Browne in an Antipodean Argument that will surely thrill those in attendance, enrapture any TV viewing audience & probably severely damage the ring that night.

The last time Chauncy got in anything like shape, he was seventeen stone on the dot when he lost to journeyman Sherman "Tank" Williams, in 2012. Since then, however, he has, well, bloated somewhat, damaging the scales at a soupçon over twenty stone, beautifully distributed about his six-two frame when he was stopped in his last fight by 49-year old Billy Wright, the 22-stone redneck who for some reason has most of his fights in Bolivia (I shit you not, go look it up).

What I want to know is:

How much will Chauncy weigh on the night of the Browne fight, given that he's had at least three weeks' notice for this? & will the combined weight (remember, Browne was the over eighteen & a half stone in his last outing) of these two behemoths require extra insurance on the part of the promoters, in case the floor gives way?

Any interest in running a sort of prediction-league thingy, anyone?

I reckon he'll be 284lbs of (not so) lean mean fighting machine.

Brilliant thread, laughing out loud reading it : ) I predict him coming in at a trim and ready 300lbs.

I like to imagine that in that photo he is actually fighting in grey tracksuit bottoms and white plimsoles.

305, he'll need the extra weight to prevent Browne from bullying him

Nice one lads, glad to see I'm not the only one damnably intrigued by the prospect of how far Chauncy's gut will hang over the edge of his shorts.

It appears he's been sparring Huck & Hernandez in Germany, so I myself am predicting Welliver's gonna shock us & get below eighteen stone for the first time in years.

I believe he intends to bedazzle Browne with science & to do that he'll need to be lean & mean. My guess is 17st 12lbs (250 lbs).

Haven't seen Welliver for ages but he used to be a tough old big sack of poo. Browne is going to be exposed by someone not that much better than this guy, although the fat factor seem to be insurmountable on this occasion.

Any chance he may forfeit a percentage of his purse for failing to make the heavyweight limit???

I've seen Welliver box many times in New Zealand and he has a surprisingly good skill set. His weight however has always been an issue, incredibly he runs his own gym in Spokane, back in the states. I reckon the Welliver of a few years ago would have given the limited Browne problems, but Welliver has looked awful in his recent fights and although he's never been floored in his 68 pro fights, I think this has every chance to become a first. Most likely he's stopped on his feet about round 4/5. I reckon he'll make a bit of an effort and weigh 260lbs.

20 st 4 3/4 lbs of rippling Adonis it was.

Grub mate, you are hereby anointed Boxrec Official Fat Bastard Weight Prognosticator, having got within mere ounces of Chauncy's actual vast planetoid-esque mass.

If I had any money, I'd ask you to PM me for a small prize, but I haven't, so tough shite.
