Dillian Whyte Update

Dillian Whyte has a date and a venue for his comeback fight. Does anyone know the details please?
Definitely got a rough deal he took a pre-work out supplement which has since been modified by the company that produces it, the length of the ban was ridiculous, hopefully he'll be back in the mix soon so the UK can have another good heavyweight prospect amongst the ranks.Bodyshot3 wrote:Be interesting to see how he goes......felt he got a rough deal with that ban and from a personal perspective I am far more interested in seeing him (after a couple of tune-ups) or Ian Lewison getting in with Joshua rather than some other names being bandied around like Johnson and Sprott. Someone with a bit of fire in their belly, also trying to get to the top and with a full-on, physical presence but would be a better test for Joshua.
If he's fighting at the Camden Centre I would assume Mickey Helliet, he puts a lot of shows on there.Sklar wrote:Thanks. Who is he signed to, etc?
That makes sense. Thanks.expe wrote:If he's fighting at the Camden Centre I would assume Mickey Helliet, he puts a lot of shows on there.Sklar wrote:Thanks. Who is he signed to, etc?
True in terms of opponents beaten, but there's been a lot of positive words about Whyte from the Klitschko training camps he's been involved in. That combined with his rivalry with Joshua has gotten everyone interested.rm1 wrote:True he was treated very harshly but nothing in his pro career to date marks him out as above domestic level. Good luck to the guy at least he is committed and fit which a lot of heavyweight "prospects" are not.
It was naivety on his part, lots of fighters take pre-workout drinks prior to training and fighting, despite cases like Whyte's, I'm confident the overwhelming majority still take the manufacturer's assertions that the products are legal in competition at face value and do no research of their own. The percentages worked against him. Like I said before, though, I agree with him being punished.Terry Dooley wrote:I'm not saying I agree with the length, but the UKAD report's available online and they stated that the sanction was due to the fact that he ingested the drink on the day of the fight to improve his performance. It was recommended by someone he knows, but the UKAD stresses personal responsibility, so they hit him with the maximum and outlined their thinking.

Terry Dooley wrote:I'm not saying I agree with the length, it was extremely tough on Whyte, but the UKAD applied their criteria to it and laid out their reasoning. No one can doubt Whyte's commitment, though, given that he's stayed hard on it in the gym throughout his ban. He'll be a great addition to the U.K. HWs.london wrote:Terry Dooley wrote:I'm not saying I agree with the length, but the UKAD report's available online and they stated that the sanction was due to the fact that he ingested the drink on the day of the fight to improve his performance. The UKAD report also says they fully accept he took It not knowing it contained any banned substance.
The substance DMAA which has 16 other names and was listed as geranium and is ok to use outside competition as long as its not in your system on fight night. Enzo Macrinelli got 6 months and Tony Dodson 5 months for testing positive for exactly the same ingredient. Dillan Whyte was incredibly unlucky to receive 2 years.
I don't know about some of the others, but Enzo only got 6 months because the amount in his body was small, he didn't take much of the stuff and he stopped taking it a couple of days before the fight as it was making him ill, so it was judged that it wasn't performance enhancing, along with him making the mistake of not properly checking whether it was allowed.Broomhall wrote:If the other boxers were given such a wide range of bans surely Whyte has a legal case for action against UKAD, 6 months as opposed to 2 years seems bizarre, and they should be able to say why each boxer got different sentences for the same offence?

Terry Dooley wrote:They are consistent, Dodson and the others stated that they'd taken it in training for a bout, not on the day of it.london wrote:
Agreed but there is no consistency with the UKAD decisions otherwise Macrinelli,Dodson and Ryan Barrett should all of had 2 year bans as they all tested positive on fight night for the same ingredient.
I believe it was dexaprine enzo took.london wrote:expe wrote:I don't know about some of the others, but Enzo only got 6 months because the amount in his body was small, he didn't take much of the stuff and he stopped taking it a couple of days before the fight as it was making him ill, so it was judged that it wasn't performance enhancing, along with him making the mistake of not properly checking whether it was allowed.Broomhall wrote:If the other boxers were given such a wide range of bans surely Whyte has a legal case for action against UKAD, 6 months as opposed to 2 years seems bizarre, and they should be able to say why each boxer got different sentences for the same offence?
No Enzo was very lucky as he was one of the first boxers banned for DMAA etc he took a product called HEMO RAGE and said he bought it to lose weight. If it was making him ill surely he would of checked the ingredients? He also said he bought it mail order but never checked what it contained.
Regardless of when he stopped taking it he tested positive and was banned for 6 months.
DMAA is not banned for training it just shouldn't be in your system on fight night.
I think Whyte should of received no more than 6 months.

Too early for Whyte. He'll need at least 3 more fights against journeymen to even consider Joshua.Old Jack J wrote:Should be in with joshua early next year.
Agree. 1 before Christmas, 1 in January, 1 in February and then AJ in march/april next year.UrbanFox wrote:Too early for Whyte. He'll need at least 3 more fights against journeymen to even consider Joshua.Old Jack J wrote:Should be in with joshua early next year.
