Who wins this at light-welterweight?

Hatton's impressive work rate and persistent pressure starts to tell in the mid rounds and he starts to pick up rounds,
Khan starts making mistakes and getting caught with heavy shots, having dropped most of the later rounds he goes down in round 9 to a solid body shot and again in 11 with a left hook to the temple but survives on jelly legs.
Having punched himself out trying to finish in the 11th Ricky losses the final round as Khan rallies to everyone's surprise
Score cards read 114 - 113, 114 -112, 113-113
Majority decision Hatton in a fight of the year contender and the public clamour for a rematch
Jim Watt has Junior Witter winning by a complete shutout
I think Hatton could have stopped Khan, however I think he would have achieved it with body shots. Maidana belted Khan round the head a lot and though Khan looked out on his feet at times he was able to hang in there. It's impossible to do that with the sorts of body shots Hatton would have been hitting him with, so Hatton for me.Ian1973 wrote:I think it would've all depended on whether Ricky landed flush on Khan's chin. I think Khan is the better boxer and would win on points but if Ricky caught Khan flush he would knock him out.
Could Khan have gone 12 rounds without getting caught? Maybe. Ricky was best as a body puncher, I see Khan being disciplined and outboxing Hatton from range.
Khan points.

A prime for prime version I would say Hatton beats Khan, Witter beats Hatton, Khan beats Witter
I've chopped and changed on this one over the years. It's shocking this fight wasn't made. The reality is that Witter would be slow out the traps and never catch-up, blow the chance of a rematch and stink the joint out........however, what I mean is, if Witter utilized all of his tools to good effect I think Hatton would come straight on to one and be KO'd.Ian1973 wrote:magwitch wrote:I think Hatton could have stopped Khan, however I think he would have achieved it with body shots. No, lol, I ain't having that.
yeah but its no fun watching someone waving his arms about for most of the fight. on a side note nearly fought him in the ams glad I didn't cos as much as I hated his style he might of made me look a right clownmagwitch wrote:I believe Junior Witter once recorded 15 consecutive KO's, yet hadn't hardly any following. You can't imagine that having ever happened to anyone. Pity.
This. It is a real shame it took so long for him to step into world class - after the Tszyu fight he was past his peak.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Prime Hatton would have been too much for Amir to handle, Amir is fast, but he isn't slick, and he isn't clever - he has only one way to fight, and if he gets drawn into a brawl way too easily. Ricky was very very fast in his prime, and closed the gap very well, once he got in range, he'd have hurt Amir consistently.
I feel that Hatton's late career made people forget how good he was in his prime.
Yes, he had already lost quite a bit of his footwork by then, and without the angles he used to create, he became far more predictable.dookus wrote:This. Peak Ricky was soooo much better than Peterson, though. Ricky was brilliant at his best.J-C wrote:The fight that comes to mind is Khan/Peterson and I could see a similar pattern, Khan off to his usual quick start then getting more disorganised as the pressure piles on. Not sure he stops him though. People talk a lot about Khan's chin but he took some decent shots off Maidana and Peterson at 140. Hatton wouldn't of caught him with anything like that hook from Garcia. Might have been fairly close on the cards.
Tend to agree with this. Hatton was much physically stronger; he would have ducked and dived his way inside, bullied Khan to the ropes and eventually stopped him.fightscorecollector wrote:Prime for prime ? Hatton by a country mile. Khan doesn't see round 6
2 fighters - a class apart
To be fair that was the version of Khan that used to stand flat-footed directly in front of people and just take what was coming. Roach stopped him doing that. Also, even at that stage, Gomez had one hell of a hook on him. They weren't as well placed as Hatton's body shots, but if you let him land them you'd get hurt.black panther wrote:Tend to agree with this. I remember Gomez hurting Khan with body shots; imagine what Hatton would have done to him!
