Steve Cunningham's obese opponent is very soft

Tonight's HBO doubleheader is very good, but NBCSN's is poor.

Cunningham's obese opponent Natu Visinia has never even fought an opponent ranked in the BoxRec top 400!

Cunningham isn't getting any younger, how does it benefit his career to fight someone like Visinia?

It keeps him busy.

It must be worth the paycheck to him. Realistically, Cunningham isn't going to the very top of the HW division anyway, so why not take a fight that looks very winnable if the money is right?
It is stupid that the fight is around the same time as Golovkin is fighting. They should have done it Friday night or earlier in the afternoon today.

I'm guessing they had so much trouble finding the right opponent that they just arranged to fight a random on short notice to pick-up a little cash flow.

Two rounds into this fight, I'm noticing that Visinia actually has a ton of power, and is also capable of landing on Steve. If he wins, I know a lot of people are going to be sh*tting on Steve for losing this fight, but I think Visinia brings more to the table than most think he does.

atm cunningham is providing a lot of excitement.
the big matchup is still to come.

as for Visinia? he joins the likes of Vincent thompson, alexander flores who have stalled and been exposed due in part to their woeful inactivity. novices having the odd fight a year arent going to amount to anything.

Yes, he's not that terrible. In fact, he certainly has a LOT better chin than Fury.

I DVR'd the NBCSN card but when I realized Balmontes had pulled out and Cherry had a scrub opponent I didn't bother watching. No clue where they found that Visinia guy. What an awful main event.

Well Natu can't be that bad because he just signed for 4 fights on ESPN, ABC, CBS and I think something else

Several people mentioned before you posted that it would allow Cunningham to make money or stay busy. Since then the only critical post was jujigatame's, and I don't think his claim about the bout being a poor main event is baseless.

Are 'morons' persistently criticizing Cunningham in other threads?

I certainly wasn't trying to be negative about Cunningham. It was a crap main event but I'm still a fan of his and I certainly don't begrudge him (or any boxer) a paycheck.

I think we should leave the fellow alone and hope that his child somehow makes a full recovery.
Medical bills or not, it's just a stay busy fight. I can't see criticizing Cunningham too much after all he's done anyway. Her can fight guys like this for the rest of his career for all I care, he's had a great career, paid his dues and most guys would be long out of the sport by now.

But well, it becomes a bit clearer when we see who started the thread.

I would not call that Natu guy very soft. He gave good fight to Cunningham. I guess he could win against some 15-25 ranked guys.

Of the three televised bouts on the October 18, 2014 NBCSN boxing program, Decarlo Perez vs. Tyrone
Brunson and Steve Cunningham vs. Natu Visinia were quite good with the losing boxers have some good
moments while Edner Cherry vs. Osumanu Akaba was a mismatch or blowout of the first order. In fairness to the people staging the promotion, Akaba was a substitute.

I would give Natu a pass only because he's Polynesian, and if you ever been around Polynesians you would know skinny doesn't exist in their bloodlines.
