Can't see many of our lot this side of the pond wanting to get in the ring with him. He's the Terminator.

Which Brit from light-middle to light-heavy do you think would give him the sternest test? I think I'd back him to beat any non-heavyweight Brit actually.

He is very impressive, he is the man at middle and he seems to have no fear of tackling more established fighters. He seems to have a really good temprament and I think he'll rule the roost for a while and he is going through good fighters with panache - he may grow into being a very special fighter, it isn't just the power - he is very unusual.

I'd say Froch is the only Brit who has any chance against GGG outside of our heavies. I'd still make GGG favourite but Froch is a genuine elite fighter, GGG hasn't faced anyone like him yet so who knows...

Ive long been a huge fan of GGG since the Thai world amateurs when he beat Lee, Korobov and knocked out Bute.

He is a very special fighter indeed.

But Rubio.. I just didn't trust him last night. And the interview with Spada yesterday which said he was bang on 159.8 on his own calibrated scales, yet the official scale said 157.8 or something to enable Rubio to make weight, just adds to my suspicions.

He is brilliant for boxing at the minute as he's getting the world talking about him being an absolute wrecking machine.

on the other hand, has he faced a top class opponent yet? It might make for even more spectacular ko's when he lands on opponents throwing as opposed to covering up. Or, he may not be as effective. Either way, I'm keen to see!!

I wonder how Rubio rates Golovkin's power compared to Lemieux.

I said the same thing yesterday on the current scene, mate. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Rubio hasn't done middleweight since he fought Lemieux.

He was a world class amateur and has incredible power as a pro. It doesn't bode well for the other champions at 160 or 168 lbs.

Golovkin just seems to good for his own good, the only worry is he goes stale if he cant get the big fights,Cotto would be the obvious one but if they can get the Chavez Jr fight then we could really see what his power can do,he's put some dureable fighters away early but apart from Rubio, the others hadnt been in with someone with half the power Gennady has

Cotto would be lucky to make it past the halfway stage with GGG IMO and im sure even up at SMW he'd be able to land on Ward and stop him,Froch maybe goes the distance and can even get some of his own bombs off but Golovkin wins it on points

On pure ability GGG is prob my p4p No1 but his CV is still nowhere near the requirements his abilty merits,Mayweather's always been my No1 p4p and he's still the best defencevely but his offensive spurts although still very sharp are far and few between,Golovkin just has a lot more in his arsenal than what Floyd has these days

It is a difficult one as there isnt really a defining fight out there for him-Sturm-not much point, I dont think Quillin will go near him, Cotto is a bit shopworn, but probably his best option right now.

I dont think there is a Brit who would get near him apart from possibly Froch as people have said, althoughI think DeGale has the kind of style that might take him some rounds and frustrate him.

Mind you he is 32, and although hasnt had a tough pro career has been at the top for a long time so depends on how long he can stay focused for as well as who is out there. He might just get bored by not having real challenge.

I've little interest anymore in seeing Golovkin fight Lee, Murray, Macklin etc, or another Rubio, he's on another level to those guys. He's nearing 33 now, he is more ready than he'll ever be, its time to see him in some real big meaningful fights from now onwards.

I think the difference is that Golovkin is keeping active while pushing for big names; many others are afraid of slipping on a banana skin and so sit about inactive for 6 months or more. Golovkin seems to be in good condition always and it wouldn't surprise me if he fits in another bout before the end of the year - he's hammering the contenders and that is keeping his name out there and is building his brand.

I saw a post fight online interview afterwards where he said he'd been hit harder. Could just be sour grapes though. Rubio didnt exactly show a great a desire to get up after the knockdown anyway.

I think Ward could neutralise him. However in the process he'd make it one ugly ass fight with a lot of clinching and the like i'd imagine. I'm guessing his tactics would be to make it and inside fight where GGG couldnt get off with his power effectively. Whether that would work or not is another question.

Yeah maybe, but GGG seems to get an inhuman amount of power & leverage no matter where he's positioned, so I'm not sure Ward could neutralise him to the same extent as he typically neutralises power punchers.

Someone like Andre Dirrell might have the best chance of beating GGG - by running the fvck away for 12 rounds!

Well Ward could adapt that strategy aswell as he seems to have the footspeed to do it and he can box aswell at range as he can on the inside. However I just think that he'd probably be even more likely to get knocked out in process because he doesnt have any power of any significance to make any kind of dent in GGG to be honest.

If we're saying anyone outside of HW then I'd probably go for Ola Afolabi.

I never even considered Ola. I wouldn't fancy him at all against GGG & I'd expect GGG to stop him with body punches, but it would be fantastic while it lasted.

I dunno if Ward can move in the same way that Dirrell could, but yeah his skills would definitely make it a difficult fight for GGG. The only way I can envisage GGG losing at the moment is against a real mover, similar to how Provodnikov lost to Algeri (but on a different level obviously).

Be good to see him in with Quillin and Cotto, maybe Alvarez as well if he comes up to middle. For a real challenge though looks like he has to go up to super middleweight to fight Ward, that would be a clash of 2 exceptional fighters. I can't see Mayweather coming up to middle to fight him.

Both Canelo and Cotto would get destroyed in a similar fashion. Both of them are too small and even if they were the same size they would be up against it to begin with.
