Just been announced happening on December the 13th in Las Vegas, tough fight for Khan, think he will win on points. 116-112 scores.

Not a very interesting fight I dont think. I think Alexander is tailor made for Khan and doesnt really have the power to truely trouble Khan and will get out sped. Guerrero would of been more intriguing to me.

It's a good fight between two top 10 welterweights.

The winner should fight Brook rather than Mayweather.

Alexander is a solid fight but Khan should be able to outbox him and win a comfortable UD. His whiskers are always a concern but i dont see him losing here, if he does i have no idea where he goes next.

About as safe as it gets for khan given the company he keeps. His matchmaker got it right.

khan will win it quite comfortably on points

Great fight for Khan, will be too much for Alexander and Alexander is a proven fighter in the division.

I'm not convinced khan can win this easily,alexanders a tricky fight.Good matchup this.

He laid out iron chinned Urango pretty spectacularly and if he caught Khan with a similar punch, it's hard to imagine him staying upright. He beat Maidana easily and has wins over Matthysse, Bailey and Karass. Not many better opponents out there bar Brook, Thurman, Mayweather and Pacquiao.

Khan isnt the fighter he thinks he is

With the exception on maidana, who would beat khan in a rematch, any time he has made a slight step up he has been beaten

Khan will win comfortably IMO.

I agree I like this match up, its not like Devon Alexander is washed up or anything....

Exactly right. This is a hell of a lot better than someone like Josesito Lopez. It's only his 2nd fight at WW. Collazo and Alexander are about as tougher fights as you can get without going for the champs or Thurman. A lot thought Collazo would KO Khan and Devon has very good wins on his CV.

I have to wonder if people just enjoy moaning. Moan when Khan looks like he's next for Floyd "Needs to fight someone in the top 10", "Doesn't deserve the shot". Now they moan when a fight with a top 10 guy is announced!

Good even match up in my book as this would be Khan's best win. Alexander is probably the most complete fighter Khan will have faced and although his best days are behind him, he's not in 'gatekeeper' mode yet but the loser of this will probably be looking at that type of role.

Follow this with a match up v Brook (if he keeps his title) or Bradley and he will have had a good little run at welter.

Alexander is a garbage opponent and an absolute stink out merchant. His fight against Bailey is one of the worst contests i've ever watched and he even made a boring fight out of Maidana, even more so than Mayweather stunk it out and that's really something.

I'm not saying it's a mismatch, it's just a crap, boring fight, we were rumoured to get Khan vs Guerrero which would have been a barnstormer, instead we get Devon Alexander, who was thoroughly outboxed by Bradley ages ago, at a time where fans were screaming for Bradley vs Khan as the 2 top dogs at 140 pounds. Devon who clearly lost to Matthysse in a Don King stitch-up, who's only successful Welterweight title defence (after taking the belt from a geriatric) was against Lee Purdy.

On one hand Khan is parading himself as an elite fighter regularly calling for Mayweather, Pacquiao & Marquez, and regularly downplaying Kell Brook as not worthy of a sharing a ring with him, but on the other hand his matchmaking is pathetic and is being strategically match-made against non-punchers... but i guess perhaps he is taking Roach's parting advice.

Here is a list of bouts I'd rather see than Khan vs Alexander:

Khan vs Bradley - 3rd in the division behind Floyd & Pac.
Khan vs Brook - huge domestic world title fight.
Khan vs Guerrero - tough, gritty war against 2012 Fighter OTY candidate & FMJ opponent.
Khan vs Rios - much like the above, chance for Khan to prove himself, tough Pac opponent.
Khan vs Maidana 2 - much improved Maidana that gave Floyd 1 hell of a fight. A convincing win puts Khan in Floyd territory.
Khan vs Marquez - enough said.
Khan vs Thurman - far more credible contender than DA, ranked above Khan.
Khan vs Porter - Beat Alexander.
khan vs Provodnikov - On a par with Rios,
Khan vs Garcia 2 - I picked Garcia first time, i'd pick Khan 2nd time, would be a huge rematch.
Khan vs Matthysse - Best fighter at 10 stone, better fight than Rios or Provodnikov imo.
Khan vs Broner - Easy fight for khan, and huge scalp, he'd school Broner worse than Maidana did.
Khan vs Vargas - meh, maybe not, but at least he's an unbeaten highly rated prospect & not another gatekeeper like DA or Collazo.


Every single one of those bouts has more intrigue & entertainment value than Khan vs feather-fisted stink-out gatekeeping Devon Alexander. It's been over 2 years since Khan has taken a serious fight. He went from a unified champion to Carlos Molina, old man Diaz, Collazo and now Devon. It's embarrassing for him, especially during his prime years. A career path now of blown up lightweights paid to be a punching bag, to journeymen and gatekeepers.

this is a tough fight for khan. I don't expect him to win, but lets face it , he has to fight and beat fighters of this quality to prove he should be up there with the best. alexander needs to put himself back in the mix too. both are fighters who are highly skilled but never fulfilled their potential. with the exception of garcia, this will be khans toughest opponent and in the unlikely event that he wins, he would merit a shot at one of the big boys. I would've been happy with alexander as an opponent for mayweather.

This is a good fight. OK, he was shocked by Porter, but Alexander beat Maidana easier than Mayweather did, as well as Matthysse. His only other loss was to Bradley, which is hardly a shocker.

Seems to me some people are so keen to slag off all fights Khan has because they are desperate to see him lose. Do people really think matchmakers should make the least suitable fights for their guys? If he wins this and faces Mayweather next, some will be saying that he is only going for Mayweather because he is on the slide.

As for Brook - he isn't fit to fight at the moment and that's his fault, no Khan's. If Brook defends his title in Feb/March and Khan beats Alexander, that could be a monster fight next summer.

And it's a much better fight than Josesito Lopez, who was the rumoured opponent for ages

I agree a lot of those fights in your post look good but I think you are doing Alexander a dis-service here.

Do you think Khan will walk through Alexander easily?

Khan seems to be happy to get in with most people win or lose which I think we should give him credit for but to call Alexander a gate keeper I think is a bit disrespectful....its a good fight.

I suppose it's more that he's peaked. He will not achieve the level of success that he did at LWW at this weight, he's had a couple of injuries and the loss to Porter who didn't look too special against Kell. The next couple of fights for Porter will show that result in a better light.

I'm not saying this makes it in Khan's favour as Alexander, again in my view, has had the better career and better wins. I also think Khan has peaked and will probably be underdog against any genuine top 10 welterweight, especially those who can adapt their gameplan.

To be fair in regards to the Porter display. I think Alexander just has a lot of difficulty with that particular style. I remember Bradley giving him the same kind of headaches.

That might be the case for him against Porter and hopefully we'll see the best of Alexander against the best of Khan this year.

I am definitely interested in watching it
