Would love to see this one more than any other fight in the world right now.

I think the only way Froch would go for it though is if he could virtually guarantee another enormous crowd and massive PPV sales and even though I rate Golovkin as top 3 pound for pund I'm not sure the fight over here would sell hugely to the casuals who will have no idea who Golovkin is.

It may be a fight more for the O2 or the City Ground and that may not generate enough cash to get Froch to take the risk.

Carl would take a sustained beating in that fight I think. I think at this stage of his career, avoiding that particular fight would be the smart option.

Stadium fights don't appeal to me just because the view seems shit. It probably would once more people realise how good GGG is.

it would sell out wembley i think while golovkin isn't a superstar like floyd or manny once a few clips of his ko's are shown on tv people would realise what a good fight it would be .

At the rate Golovkin and his rising fan base is going right now, he could probably sell out every venue in the world.

YES, big time... But that fight will never happen.

i wouldn't know who i'd like to win ,part of me thinks i have to get behind the home fighter and part would like to see golovkin at his best destroying froch and become a real superstar of the sport

I personally think that Froch would be too big for Golovkin. Abraham had serious power at middleweight and I thought that it would be a risky fight for Froch, but he absoltuely schooled him and took his shots pretty comfortably.

It is hard to say how good GG is until he is in with the best -not his fault that he hasn't as I get the impression that he wants to fight the best, and the best isn't queuing up to face him.

I am sure that it would be a fight that would sell although I wonder whether the Groves fight is the perfect point to retire.

No I don't think it would. Don't get me wrong us boxing fans would drool at the prospect of this fight. But to fill out Wembley you need the casual sports fans to be interested. I guarantee not one person at my work has ever heard of GGG.

PS - Froch would get some serious beating that may impact his health

tough call to say it would sell out Wembley but it would be an awesome fight and I would definitely buy a ticket for that one.

I'd like to think it would sell out but the casuals might not even be aware of GGG despite what we all think.

Absolutely agree with that...lets not forget that although GGG is obviously a thunderous puncher, Froch is elite level and will definitely throw back in his own venomous way....be nice to see GGG on the back foot and see how he deals with it.

would definitely pay to watch this fight.

Agree with both of you. Yet another case of people going crazy over GGG. The MW with not one elite fighter on his CV easily beats and KO's the SMW who has fought all the best in the division and has a fantastic chin....

I must admit I thought the same when Pavlik was on the up and thinking that Joe did well ducking him, low and behold Hopkins schooled him. If Joe had taken that fight he would have done the same and made his legacy even greater.

You could accuse Froch of many things, but one thing he isn't is a duck.

Bear in mind, it's Golovkin who has to prove himself, not Froch.

Froch is one of the main men at 168 & has one of the best resumes in boxing: he doesn't need to duck Golovkin.

I think the fear is that Golovkin would force Carl to box on the backfoot which isnt his strength. Golovkin has never taken a backward step in any of the fights ive seen him in and to boot by all accounts he's never touched down in a fight neither amateur (where had about 400 fights) or pro OR even sparring apparantly! That's pretty freaky and a scary prospect because if you cant stop his advance or be good enough (ie have quick feet) to box him on the backfoot you're going to take a lot of punishment even if you win.

Pavlik was always limited as fornicate though and could be outboxed. Golovkin was a far superior amateur and far better in that regard.

I don't think Golovkin has the power to sell to the casuals & football fans just yet.

I'd pay to go see this live though, Froch is a freak of nature is has earned his place amongst Calzaghe, Lewis, Hatton. Golovkin on the other hand I think could be among some of the greatest ever along side Hagler, Duran & Tyson.

I like the Tyson comparison because that's the kind of drawing power Golovkin needs to aim for. His ability terrifies people, i think Macklin was genuinely frightened going into that fight with Golovkin - it's the baby face, good manners & Borat voice that's holding GGG back from a little more selling power. He should get the black shorts on and a towel for his head and he might get somewhere.

If GGG could get Cotto or Canelo in the ring and rip them apart inside 3 rounds then yes, but by that time Froch will be retired, so i don't see it happening - and i don't think Froch would want it, he's a guy who values his legacy pretty highly and will forever crack on about how his legacy trumps Calzaghes.

Lol. Dont get me wrong, I think Froch would provide his toughest test bar Ward in all likelihood but I do think he'd take an awful lot of punishment in the fight.

Power is the most seductive of attributes, and it's a classic mistake to make when seeing an up and coming fighter destroying everyone put in front of them - to believe that they will just flatten all comers - but all too often - flaws are exposed by top level opponents, which nullify that gift.

What happens if Carl pushes Golovkin onto the back foot - what then? GGG has never even fought at 168, and that extra weight can make a big difference. Carl is also the toughest man at 168 by a country mile. Nobody is invulnerable, but Carl comes pretty close.

GGG has pedigree, and judging by comments, (I've not seen him fight yet sadly) - he has good boxing ability too - he may go onto be a future great, but for now, it's best to temper the excitement with a bit of realism, and wait and see how he does as he moves up the next couple of levels, his opponents to date have not been world class - let alone elite level.

Fact is GGG has never been down Amateur or Pro he takes a shot to throw a shot.. He can seriously bang everyone has said how fearsome a puncher he is.. Froch is far too easy to hit and has been down he wouldn't be getting back up from GGG.. 100% Froch knows that he's a clever boy and will not go near GGG.. Froch is not Elite he's lost to Ward and Kessler at his own weight he's World Class not elite.. Good opponents but he's world class. IMO he lost the 2nd Kessler fight. Was losing against Groves in first fight and landed a cracking punch in the 2nd.. Froch has achieved more than I expected but GGG is unreal
