Bloody disgusting behaviour; should not be allowed to enter another contest anywhere in the world and also charged with assault.

Both corners and the other Boxer = cowards..

That is horrible. Another thing that was bizarre was that the guy that won literally ran out of the ring like he was scared! Bizarre. He should of tried helping the ref.

I would ban the Croatians from ALL international boxing tournaments for at least four years for that. They have to carry the can.

Here's a slightly extended clip that shows the moments before the stoppage. It appears a shocking decision by the ref, i can see why the guy is pee'd off, but to attack the ref the way he did is disgraceful. He should be banned for life!

This is better video which shows the whole bout, and whilst I dont condone the Croats behavior being on the end of biased and bad officiating many times as an amateur I can understand his anger and frustration.

He wasnt hit and he certainly wasnt hurt. It was an appalling piece of officiating in my view especially in a major championship and not enough is done to stop it.

What happened before that though?

One of the comments suggests that the Croatian had already been knocked down and given a previous standing count, although I'm not sure if that's true. If it is, that would make the stoppage more understandable in my view.

You're joking, he is in Croatia and the bloke doing the attacking was the home boxer, it is bad enough in places like Liverpool having to contend with friends and family of the home boxers - never mind in a foreign country - you don't know who he had as back up, he did the right thing by flying out of that ring.

The Croatian boxer received 3 standing 8 counts in the round. The first one he received was following being floored, the second from a clean heavy head shot and the third again from good head shots. As I understand an amateur contest is usually stopped if a boxer receives 3 counts in any one round.

Has anyone got the whole bout to put up? He certainly didnt look as though needed the third count, but I would like to see it all if possible.

Yep, a life ban. What else can you do in such a situation. You have to think of the sport's integrity. Remember Mr Frankham.

Yes, banned for life, and rightly so. I know it's trendy to 'give people a break and forgive and forget' and all that other gay stuff but perhaps it's time that people hardened up a bit and people faced some proper consequences for their actions.

If I was the other boxer, especially seeing as I just had the ability to stop the other guy, I would've at least rugby tackled the other fighter after the very first punch. What a coward

He was very sensible, there are some places (like Liverpool or Belfast) where if you set upon the home boxer in that manner, his family and friends will make sure you are torn limb from limb before exiting the arena into an ambulance - head first.

I imagine Croatia is one of those places.

He didn't have to start trading punches with the guy but he should of tried to restrain him IMO. The ref could be dead with all the punches the pudendum was given the time to get in.

It's easy to say that with hindsight but most people aren't blessed with quick reactions to something like that anyway - it is flight or fight and I wouldn't risk setting upon restraining a Croatian fighter in Croatia, those people take supporting their sportsmen very seriously. Still - I like how he was yanked out of the ring foot first, that must have been the most inglorious way to exit from a boxing contest.

Well it was made worse that he went back to the corner and took his gloves off. If he smacked the ref in the heat of the moment when the fight was disgracefully stopped then maybe just a lengthy ban or fine would suffice and potentially dealing with the police for assault becomes another matter.

I'm surprised there aren't more incidents like this though, an account of corrupt boxing officials, refs & judges not having to answer to anyone. Boxing feels like the wild west at times when officials are concerned, they consistently wreck the career, ambitions and earning potentials of young am's/pro's because they are grossly incompetent at best and corrupt matchfixers at worst. Yet when that happens we all just have a moan and wait for it to happen again in a few months but a kid snaps and a ref gets a punch in the mouth and everyone goes nuts.

There aren't more incidents like this precisely because it is widely known that you'll get a life ban AND most trainers know how to discipline their fighters. The Croats let the side down and should face the consequences.

Here's the entire 2nd round, albeit being played at high speed. IMO the Croatian was being outclassed, outfought and outpunched.

The ref needs the authorities to deal with the boxer for him? What a gaylord!

How would you have dealt with him Horse?
