Decent fight on 5 for a change ?

Hall is a tough nut, but presumably the American is a heavy favorite to win this, having gone to Japan to win his last one

Damn good fight. Can't get a read off it: Hall hates movement, Caballero don't move much apart from forward.

THen again, I suspect Oba might be a better fighter than anyone Hall has faced, & RC fvcked him up for days, like.

Elieder Alvarez, Canadian-based Colombian (?), a 2008 Olympian who's had nightmares with promoters I believe, & one "Rino Liebenberg" (I shite you not), an unbeaten South African, something to do with that Berman fella who's got something to do with the promotion.

Alvarez, never heard of the kiddies he's beaten (apart from Edison Miranda, natch) but there's like half a dozen other lads with unbeaten/flash looking records on there... & he's apparently handled 'em all.

crikey. i think i will actively stay in to watch it (cue C5 showing loads of Hall - caballero buildup and all 12 rounds of a stinker, plus 2 rounds max highlights from the other fights....)

Oba looked SHOCKING in his follow up fight and retired. Maybe Randy beat him into retirement but...maybe not.

I'd like to see Hall reclaim a world title for obvious reasons but Butler vacating straight away must have left a bad taste with Stuart

The channel 5 show starts at 9.30pm local time so my guess is we will see the Murray and Hall fights in full then highlights of the other fights, it's not the best but better than nothing I suppose

Great fight, sometimes wondered about Hall's real title credentials, but I guess he showed everyone he belongs at the top with that performance. Cabarelllo looked real class in there last night.

Murray is going to get pulverised by GG, has he ever been knocked down ? I'm wondering how good his chin is, because it's gonna need to be bloody bullet-proof.

Just got around to watching this last night, despite the loss I think that performance from Hall only helped legitimise his former belt holder status. The Malinga win wasn't really cutting the mustard on its own.

Is there really any point in GGG v Murray? If you haven't got some kind of dig to hold that monster off then your surname better be Mayweather.

That was a display worthy of a former world champion, & the best I've ever seen him. He didn't win but he's only gone up in my estimation following that.

Hall was terrific. His workrate, conditioning and will were noteworthy. Any notion that the American was going to blitz him were quickly dismissed. It called to mind a fight I saw between another north easterner, Michael Hunter, when a similarly slick opponent came over here, namely Steve Molitor. I don't put the American in the same bracket however - although having checked, it's a bit of an unfair comparison as those fights were at Bantam and Super-Bantam respectively.
On Saturday I thought neither man was sufficiently better than the other to get a stoppage and one judge (118-110) had that too wide for me. Fights like this make me question if it's really an advisable choice of career. Hall's getting plaudits galore - and rightly so - but he'll have woke up with a sore head the next day, and Caballero won't have felt like sparring either. That was such a hard, hard fight. Both men took something of a hiding and had we been in the olden days of 15 rounders I'd have been concerned, because those two looked like they'd have just traded a war of attrition all night. Stupendous conditioning and will though.
Hall seemed to spend a few rounds in there with his head in Randy's face, maybe he didn't feel all that confident standing at range and using his longer arms, or perhaps he felt he could tire his man out more like that?

As a friend of Stuey, all I will say is I am incredibly proud. It was a great fight to watch and yes you are right...both will have woken up feeling a little sore shall we say.

Even with the knockdown, which was a flash knockdown really, neither man looked hurt all the way through the fight, they just stuck in there with just heavy shots all the way through so its a testament to both fighters that they lasted the course, both very tough and mutual respect at the end.

Nice to see positive comments regarding Stuey, I'm completely biased i admit but even the neutrals will hopefully see that he belongs up there at a top level, he will be back and he's a top lad as well.
