I thought there was only one. But there were 2 x 13 round title fights. Can anyone name them without a Google search?
And (I don't know the answer to this) - were there any more 13 rnd fights since the Quneensbury rules?

USBA title fights
One was Tony Thornton vs Doug DeWitt - what happened in those days was if a fight ended in a draw, it would go an extra round.
Don't know the other one though.

Ron Essett vs Sanderline Williams, NABF Middleweight title.
Essett won by SD , as was a draw after 12 rounds.

Slight link with British boxers, Nigel Benn fought Doug DeWitt and Sanderline Williams. With Chris Eubank fighting Ron Essett and Tony Thornton.
Sanderline really pushed Benn taking him to a SD, Williams had a hell of a chin , only stopped once and he fought every puncher there was at middle/super middle. I think only McClellen knocked him down, but could only win on points.

Well done. Yeah, I'd always thought there was only the one. Don't know if I agree with the idea.
And nice trivia by Ian.

I remember Williams. Proper tough bastard, I think Jones Jr is the only name missing off that record.
