Tenor saxophonist Eli "Lucky" Thompson was regarded by many as one of the great Americain Jazzmen. He was close friends with a former World Boxing Champion, he often joined this Boxer at training camp and played along whilst the Boxer trained.

Sometimes the Boxer would join Eli on tour and perform with him on stage or act as the MC.

They even wrote a song together and were great friends
