My latest issue of Boxing Monthly arrived today and I just wanted to say that, despite Glyn's untimely departure, it's still a great read, absolutely loads of stuff in this month's edition.

Long may it continue.

Ditto......determined to support the new regime and will be in Smith's early tomorrow to grab my copy. Be interesting to hear from Graham H and the other BM writers what is happening with the Editor's chair.

Can I say that taking over as Editor in such circumstances and in a remote location must have been difficult but Graham Houston has managed this very successfully. This months edition has a very balanced feel about it in terms of world and British boxing , and I find this personally very enjoyable. Glynn had started very recently going this way and I phoned up to congratulate him following his visit 'up North' to Fury's gym.
We need more of this. Getting the journalists out of London and visiting the rest of the country.
I think this is one of the failures at Boxing News. It seems to focus too much on American boxing plus George Groves ( I'm sure someone in the office is related to him !!). It is difficult to attend the big fights at the weekend and get ready for production in the London office but time has to be found to visit boxing hubs north of Watford. It's easier I know doing this on a MONTHLY magazine but Boxing News staff did manage it in the past. When was the last time a Boxing News correspondent visited a Scottish gym ??

Anyway, back to Boxing Monthly , well done , Graham, get back to this country, and continue the good work, you could even get Derek Rowe back as the photographer and have Bob Mee doing some of the features on the 'old timers'. Walter McGowan would be a good start.

The best way to support Boxing Monthly is to buy a subscription. Smiths and the other retailers take a huge cut- whereas a sub goes straight to the people who make the mag.

You get it a on the Wednesday- a day before the shop mob.

I get a sub as a Xmas present off my Mrs every year. (Under the current deal- that's £48 for 12 mags, a 2015 calendar, Cassius Clay's greatest hits DVD and a gift card) It is the perfect gift as, it keeps on giving for 12 months. It makes laying around on the settee reading about boxing a positive part of your relationship as you are showing how much you appreciate her gift.

* I am just a normal punter and in no way benefit from extra sub sales- except it will keep the mag going.

Thanks, dalcumly. Glyn's passing was so sudden. We were all shocked taken by surprise. Glyn put his stamp on the magazine, for sure, but as the saying goes, the show must go on. We'll just keep moving forward. Being editor from outside the U.K. isn't so very difficult in the internet era but we'll see how it all works out. We have built a solid base of contributors. Derek Rowe? That's a blast from the past! Walter McGowan? Beautiful boxer; highly skilled. I saw some of his fights from ringside. One thing we are focused on doing is providing a balance. Features on boxers from all over Britain and of course the world, previews, retro articles, interviews with fighters from the past, a Big Fight Spotlight in which we break down a big fight in an analytical way. It's a balancing act, really, but rest assured we will strive to get it right, each and every month.

You do a brilliant job, Glyn would be proud. Long may BM continue. Never miss an edition...

Hi Bodyshot. I just replied to a post from dalcumly, so that post might answer some of your questions. We know it's not easy and maybe not even possible to please all of the people, all of the time, but reaction to the October/November issues was highly encouraging.

I feel that a specialist publication -- especially a boxing magazine -- should not only be interesting, entertaining and informative but also almost like a trusted friend, which is how we hope readers see Boxing Monthly.

I check in every so often at the British & Irish forum and I'll be happy to answer any questions to the best of my ability.

Where do you live now then Graham? You in the states?

BM still the best read out there, and in very safe hands with Houston.

BN just a waste of money, and poorly edited.

@Graham Houston and Mark Butcher...thank you for the update guys and a really strong issue this month, congrats to all.

Nice interview with Billy Joe before the big one with Eubank Jr and with a good preview of the fight as well....and the profile of Adam Etches was top class well. Billy Graham's first column for you was an interesting read as well.

BN do some good stuff but they're under pressure to fill an edition every single week. I rarely buy it these days but mainly as I don't associate with any active boxers. I used to never miss an issue at one time. What I like about BM is, aside from the current hot-topics, they also have a great feauture that looks back at yesteryear. Last week I caught up on a 4-page article on Stanley Ketchel, which has been on my list of things to do for about 2 years. It was a great read.
I'd like someone to get Teddy Atlas on board, if such a thing would be possible. I love listening to his analysis on KOTV - for me he's the best co-commentator out there!

I say beautiful city but I havent actually been! Haha. I've seen a fair bit of it in films and what have you though to see that it looks like a great place to visit and live for that matter.

I say beautiful city but I havent actually been! Haha. I've seen a fair bit of it in films and what have you though to see that it looks like a great place to visit and live for that matter.

Great place, very nice people and amazing food. At night down Hastings and Main it was truly insane!
