Mayweather vs Taylor ?

There is a gossip about possibility of this fight. It would be a good deal for Haymon: presenting a MW title to his friend Floyd and giving a few million bucks to his other client.

What do you think ?

Floyd's too sharp, can't see it going any other way were it to happen.
Not a fight I'm gagging to see.

Floyd by UD, however
That doesn't seem like a good option for FMJ at all. He'd be fighting a much bigger opponent who could put him down with one solid right, but would still be widely criticized (especially by this lot, not that he cares though) for picking on the weakest MW champ who was in his prime about a decade ago. I don't think the fight would sell well anyway. I'd watch it and it would be a somewhat intriguing match, but if he's only going to have a couple more fights, this shouldn't be one of them.

Didn't vote as I couldn't find the 'not going to happen' option

Meldrick Taylor is nearly 50. Not gonna happen.

If Floyd does fight Taylor, especially above 154 , he can expect a lot of criticism coming his way for cherry picking and not fighting Golovkin.

A light hitting 38 year old has no business moving up to challenge GGG.It is a recipe
for disaster.I would stay away from him too.

As if he cares about criticism or opinion of hardcore fans.

Smacks of a couple of has-beens trying to sell a prize fight for a meaningless belt.

Yes it does. But I think it would still sell to the general public. Most will buy anything.

Totally, FMJ is the definition of a has-been; Not relevant to the sport at all. I can't believe people talk about him on this board or even remember who he is.

I do not think he is irrelevant.I just think Floyd is quite past his prime and is looking to tarnish
his unblemished record.Moving up to 160 to fight anyone at this age is crazy considering where he started.
It does smack of desperation. It would only be for him to claim he had won 6 world titles and to boost his
own view as the greatest of all time.In the greater scheme of things it would not add to his legacy one bit.
Quite desperate on his part if he takes this fight.

I don't know about that, no way is Floyd a middleweight.

Neither was ODLH, didn't stop him from picking up a belt there.

A belt that is all. When he faced the real champion he was murdered.
And I still think Sturm beat Oscar.

I agree that Sturm beat Oscar, but my whole point was that it's a similar situation and you don't need to be a full-sized MW to win a MW belt.

I do think Floyd would beat JT legit, though.

Due to Taylor's various size advantages, if such a fight were to occur at the full 160, it would be somewhat interesting. But ultimately, if you can't KO Mayweather, forget about beating him, because two judges are never going to score against him regardless of what happens in the fight. Taylor does not have particularly good power, so you can most likely forget about a KO.

On a mildly related note, has anyone noticed how many top middleweights have really pathetic KO percentages? Practically everyone in the top 15 has below average KO stats except for Golovkin, Cotto, Jacobs, and Lemieux.

Jermain Taylor used to fight at 168. Come fight night, Taylor will probably be 173+ pounds ... Floyd would be 152 at most. Floyd cannot hurt Taylor. Floyd is so much smaller than Taylor.

i don't care how much you think Taylor has fallen off, he is still more dangerous to any fighter in the world than Amir Khan. You are ridiculous.

By the way, I have ZERO interest in this fight. Hope it never happens.
