Wage comparisons

On Facebook Someone posted an old tweet by Bradley Saunders saying he could get paid on time by Eddie hearn or wait a week to be paid double by Warren. Now in the thread most said Warren paid better, this included some current and ex pros.
I recall the best paying to be Hatton early on in his promotional venture.
Got me thinking who does actually pay best and would anyone have a comparison between:
Hennessy, Warren and Hearn.
I suppose could even compare Coldwells, goodwins, VIP, Hatton, etc if you so wanted but the main 3 are the ones I was thinking about.

My knowledge on this subject is dated (ten years or more out of date). Back then and for years before, Frank W was easily the best payer in the business (worldwide). I don't have a clue about now.

Is it true that Gavin only signs short contracts so as to keep his options open?

Boxers are paid purses not wages.
Purses are determined by a multitude of different issues so the question is impossible to answer.

How much do you think Bellew and Cleverly are getting paid?

Including sponsorships and a potential cut of the PPV?
Impossible to say for sure until the numbers are added after the event

It always interests me how much lower level guys get paid like for example Dorian Darch said him training full time 6 weeks for a 10 rounder against Darren Morgan for the Welsh title would only be worth 2.5k to him so isn't worth it. I wonder how much he got v Joshua.

Imo Hearn is the best promoter to go to by a mile, and I'm talking wages, paid on time, and raising your profile.

I don't know who exactly pays the highest money but let's face it almost all allegedly fighters have left him and allot of them say they waited months to be paid. Any one could offer u an unlimited amount of money but getting it is another thing!

Eddie Hearn pays his fighters good money and on time, he raises their profile through his sky contract and he also gets them out all the time

I would rather get paid a decent amount and fight 5-6 times a year then get offered good money and not b paid for months and only fight 1 or 2 tones a year

Righthook,
Please don't use the word wages. Fighters do not get wages. Wages means regular income paid weekly / monthly.

I have no idea mate but let me try and answer your question in another way.
If I was for example Nathan's Manager engaged in this fight I would be inclined to take a relatively middle of the road purse but would insist on a share of the ppv revenue.
I have nothing but admiration for David Haye as an example.
He got paid a "pittance" of a purse for the Valuev fight so that Promotionally Valuev could be offered more to make the fight happen. However he secured a deal based upon PPV sales, worked his bollocks off promoting the fight, and sales were in excess of 800k plus he won the fight.
Good on him. Self Management at its best.
I tentatively place David's gross for that fight at £7.4mill.

It doesn't wind me up Righthook but wages give a perception of regular income and that is exactly what boxers do not get - unless they have a generous sponsor but that's a whole different ball game.

Would just like to add that not everything in the Hearn garden is rosy. Bill headers yes - but undercard fighters trust me have to work hard on ticket sales etc to supplement what they are paid.

Yeh I totally agree there is nowhere near as much money in boxing as what people think unless u are at the very top, allot of fighters who are not champions or big names will not earn as much as a guy on a building site, but saying that if they are good enough they will make it in the end and become wealthy from it. Boxers should know how hard it is to make it in that business before they turn pro so at the end of the day its their choice if they fancy making a living from it

Agreed Righthook but even the ones that you would define as "making it" often are not wealthy when they hang them up.

There is - but you could say it's not apportioned properly.

I'm sure I heard Froch got 20K for one of his British title defenses and basically broke even after paying everything off. May have imagined it though

Most fighters/managers/trainers I've spoken to say that W*rren pays the most by far (when you eventually receive it).

Did you get a purse/wage from allegedly then? Was that in your famous 10 rounder against Freddie Mills?

Which is fair enough, given your personal experience. I'm merely stating what I've been told by the vast majority of people I've spoken to in the industry over the last decade or so. I'm not a huge fan of W*rren but he does pay very well 'when' he pays.

Even if warren paid the best which is not fact, I think any boxer would rather go with eddie who pays on time/gives good exposure/ gets you out frequently.

Would you rather fight twice a year for £30,000 a fight or fight 6 times a year for £25,000 a fight ???

There is no definitive answer to who pays the best because a number of factors are involved.

Boxer is a weird sport in the fact that fighters are often both underpaid and overpaid. Due to he commitment and risk involved every fighter deserves every singe penny they can get, but by that same token many boxers generate very little revenue for their promoters and are thus overpaid because they are costing the promoter money.

Now, if a boxer is quality, the promoter will often take the hit because they see them as an investment. However, all too often, the promoter still loses because the fighter either turns out to not be as good as thought, or they jump ship to another promoter when they reach a certain level.
