Castillo was shut out by Antwone Smith on ESPN last time I saw him, looking totally shot. This is a terrible match, but I guess it will sell in Russia and they don't want to take any risk of Rulan losing in front of his fans.
I've always looked forward to Provodnikov fights, but I won't even watch this one.

That is bullshit. They offered the fight to quite a few other fighters, and they all declined.

What's the weight gonna be? Whatever it is, is Castillo willing to make it?

I think this is a good tune-up fight for Ruslan, the man has fought some great fights in his last few bouts and is deserving of a bout like this to shake the rust off after his loss to Algieri. I wouldn't pay to watch this fight but if it's on for free then as a boxing fan and a fan of Provodnikov's then I will watch it.

WOw. I had no idea Castillo was still fighting. I don't think I would have been aware three years ago either.

I hope this is one of those situations where Castillo backs out and they put someone decent in front of Provo and Provo gets exposed again. Provodnikov is a exciting fighter, but damn is this dude overrated and this fight is completely unacceptable. Provodnikov the same guy who everyone said was avoided by everyone, now he's fighting a guy 15 years past his prime? My fornicating god!! LMAO!! Provodnikov what a joke.

He is fighting Castillo, because a bunch of better fighters refused to fight him. How does this contradict avoiding ? Provodnikov is a limited boxer, but he is still extremely dangerous.

I find it hard to believe that a gatekeeper such as Carson Jones or Jesus Soto Karass wouldn't have gone in for this if the money was vaguely decent.
JLC was the epitome of shot versus Alfonso Gomez, and that was ages ago.

Yeah because there aren't any young/hungry fighters out there with something to prove that could get something out of fighting Provodnikov. There also aren't any gate keepers who still have a pulse that wouldn't jump on the opportunity to fight the great hype Provodnikov. Only this 40 year old man who's 10 years out of his prime has the balls to step into the ring with the guy who's 1-2 in this last 3 fights! LMAO. Come on dude you really don't think when you talk do you? So Castillo is the only fight he could get? Are you fornicating serious? I can't express how much of a moron you are and the consistency you act like a moron is truly a gift.

There's absolutely no way to defend Provodnikov fighting Jose Luis Castillo. "EVERYONE" is avoiding Provodnikov so he's fighting a guy who's 15 years past his prime and hasn't had a meaningful win in over a decade, great logic you fornicating clown shoe!

Thank you! Of course there was multiple fighters who would have taken the fight.

However, boxing fans are willing to watch a guy who has already been in wars and should be on the brink of serious brain damage, fight a murderous puncher. At this point it's not sport. It's just pure brutality. I watched Castillo look weak and crumble against Ricky Hatton F ucking 2007!

What is it in your life that makes you want to see this happen to another living being? I don't get it man.

Russian fans needed an opponent with a name. They wouldn't want to see some obscure opponent with no history. Yes, Castillo is a poor choice from sports/competition standpoint, but he may be better than some gatekeepers or youngsters from financial standpoint.

This is just a piss poor match and I don't see how you can view it any other way, at least from a fan's perspective.
You must have a pretty low opinion of Russian fans- why do you think they are such suckers? I'd much rather see Ruslan take on a fresher fighter, even if it was an unknown guy with a nice looking record numerically. At least it might turn out to be a good fight that way.
