Not sure how Kostya outpoints him, but if the fight took place before Camacho had his bell rang the first time, Tszyu would knock him out.
Otherwise, if Hector just plays it safe, it would be very competitive.
Hmm....not sure re: weight class here. Wasn't Camacho a bigger fella? Now I have to go to the books. Kostya never fought past super lightweight as I recall.
So this may have to be a pound for pound discussion.

Hector started out as a super featherweight.I still think his best fighting weight was 135.
He was at one point a terrific fighter.I would of picked him to beat Tszyu

Well, I have to agree, Kostya won't win on points, IMHO.. And once Camacho had his lights dimmed he never fought the same. That is to say, he would use all his considerable skills and not take chances.
Now, if it would have been Kostya that caught him, I"m afraid he would lose by a ko. But other than that, odds would be that Camacho would pile up the points.
Early in Hectors career he was always willing to mix it up.....if he did that with KT....look for him to be "Zabbed". lol.

Kosta behind slightly on points would catch up to Hector like he did Zab Juda and ice him about round 9 but it wouldn't be as easy as the Juda fight.

Clive.....Not sure KT was behind all that much. Wasn't the Zab KO fairly early on? I would love to think that KT could outpoint Camacho.....but I can't make sense of it. KO yes. But I'm thinking if Macho could last, he could win. and KT is in my top 5 favorite fighters. And I honestly would favor KT by the slimmest of margins. But I think his chances lie with ending it.
Any other opinions? I'm fascinated to get other opinions on this.
And was Hector bigger than Tszyu? Like I say I need to to got the books on this one.

That's my fear Kiki.....lol. But you have to admit, before he got clocked ( my old mind forgets the opponent) he wasn't always using his genius, (and I mean that sincerely) but once he started using his noggin, he was amazing, and pretty much the whole enchilada. If he recognized your power, then he would just play chess, and beat your ass every time. But before that light went on in his attic, I think KT would have been able to get to him.

Yep, it all comes back to me now. Best thing that ever happened to Hector, he got tested, figured out workable parameters, and upped his game.
When in the squared circle, that fella was all about the noggin. One sharp cookie in the ring.

Would've like to have seen this fight. I'm not even sure who I would be cheering for, or the result of the bout...

BOXBUZZ what I probably should have said was that KOSTA WOULDE HAVE KO'D CAMACHO IN A SIMILAR WAY HE DID JUDA WHEN HE FINALLY CATCH'S UP WITH THE FLEET FOOTED CAMACHO KOSTA WAS BEHIND ON POINTS WHEN HE NAILED JUDA IN ROUND 2 SEEMED TO ME THAT JUDA GOT WAY OVER CONFIDENT WITH HIS EARLY SUCCESS THIS IS WHY HE WAS KO'D EARLIER RATHER THAN LATER CAMACHO WAS A SMARTER FIGHTER THAN JUDA AND WOULD HAVE BEEN WELL AWARE OF KOSTA'S BRUTAL PUNCHING POWER SO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEENS RE FLEET FOOTED CAMACHO KOSTA HAD A SAYING YOU CAN RUN BUT YOU CAN'T HIDE LIKE I SAID WHEN HE FINALLY CATCH'S UP ITS GOOD NIGHT IRENE KOSTA WAS A VERY INTELLIGENT AND PATIANT BOXER/PUNCHER AND NATURALLY THE BIGGER GUY.

Cripes....it was only the second round....how far behind could he have been?
But it will always be remembered for the original version of the "Zab Dance"

Kostya heroically clawed back the points deficit; it reminded me of Hearns fighting the tide against Schuler.

Not sure how come anyone can come to the conclusion that Kosta would do what prime Tito, DLH, Rosario, and Chavez could not do.
The more likely scenario would be Camacho on points.
Also, not sure how people can bring the name Judah here when he fought nothing alike Camacho and his ring IQ was way below average. Judah cannot compare in any way shape or form to Camacho.

I agree with Idisagree
The prime Camacho was a tough competitor and built for 12 rounds of movement, he also hit plenty hard; I feel he was better than people remember and also that his courage is disparaged when it ought not to be.

If Camacho was heavy handed or [hit plenty hard] in any shape or form I'v been living on Mars the past 30 year's and I must have been watching their HECTOR[MACHO]CAMACHO THE KING OF MARS THE CAMACHO I WATCHED FIGHT WAS A TOUGH UNDERRATED PURE BOXING SPECIALIST FAST HAND'S FAST FEET NEVER A PUNCHER UNLESS YOU WATCHED HIM STOP A DRUG[COCAINE] ADDICTED OVER THE HILL SUGAR RAY AND ALSO BUZZBOX SAID HE WAS'NT SURE KOSTYA WAS THAT FAR BEHIND AGAINS'T JUDA

OF COURSE IT WAS ONLY ROUND 2 WHEN THE FIGHT SUDDENLY ENDED SO PLEASE CHECK THE FIGHT OUT TO SEE JUDA BOX KOSTYA'S EAR'S OFF FOR A ROUND AND ABIT SO MR PALOOKA MY POINT IS KOSTYA WAS BEHIND ON THE THREE JUDGE'S CARD'S WHAT ROUND THE FIGHT ENDED HAS NO RELEVANCE.

It was a hell of a first round, Tszyu might have been down by the nearly insurmountable margin of one point.
Truly one for the ages, that comeback.

Hector Camacho was never stopped in a career consisting of 88 fights and that spanned to the near age of 50. He also survived the attacks of some class guys who could crack. I don't see Tszyu putting him away. As for who outpoints who? That depends. I think Hector's best days topped out at around lightweight ( though I'm not a huge Camacho expert. ) Kostya fought his entire career at Jr. Welter where Hector also spent a fair amount of time, so I'm assuming that this would have to be the battle ground. Not an easy fight to call, but if this comes down to who was better at 140 ( and not p4p ) then I'd probably have to lean towards Tszyu. Camacho was still a very good fighter at this weight and that stage in his career, but I don't know if he still had enough speed and work rate to keep Kostya off of him for 12 rounds. I can see Hector having to resort to doing a fair amount of running and clinching which the judges aren't likely to be enchanted by, while Tszyu applies constant pressure and even staggers him occasionally ( see Edwin Rosario fight a few years earlier. )
Kostya Tszyu W12 Hector Camacho.

Hector Camacho was an exciting fighter of the early 80s decade. He was a complete fighter. Especially, at 130 and 135 lbs, he was one of the fastest and smartest fighters of the decade. It all went downhill when he fought Edwin "Chapo" Rosario in '86. He won by a disputed UD that many of Rosario's fans thought Rosario won. Chapo shooked him up plenty of times in that fight, and Macho's desire of fighting went south. He was never the same fighter.
Kostya Tszyu wins this fight. He was good enough in his prime. When Macho was at 140 lbs, he was already in decline. He was not the same fighter of the early 80s anymore. He was one of those great talents that never took adavantage of his potential. I imagine if he did. Right now, I believe, we would have talk about him as one of the all time greats.
Riddick Bowe, Buster Douglas, Wilfred Benitez and Macho Camacho are some examples of good fighters that did not like training. I imagine if Benitez took the sport more seriously.
