I'm trying to think of a better example and I'm struggling. This isn't some Master Race shenanigans, it's a debate I almost had last evening before I stopped myself when I couldn't think of sensible alternative. As good as Joe was, there must be somebody better, right?

I would say klitschko's as they have dominated the division in a way which Joe didnt.

Not at all, not to digress fully, but I was just wondering who was the best White Boxer in 1990!! And why the original poster said 1990.
I would say Calzaghe is up there, but Klitschko's are dominant in a division where the Great White Hope was a pisstake.

Oscar isn't white.
It's too early for GGG I think but who knows.
Wlad is a possibility.
As to why 1990, that was just the year my pal used when he made his original statement.

Sorry dude but he is white hispanic. Which is his race and ethnic group.
To suggest he isn't is like saying Calzaghe isn't white either on account of his latino bloodline.
GGG and Klitschko are white Eastern Slavic.

GGG is Asian, his mother's a Korean. I am shocked the Koreans don't claim as one of theirs considering how poor Korean boxing is right now.

He isn't, he is of mixed heritage, his father is definitely of an Aztec bloodline.

Best white boxer since 1990 - Henry Maske - he fought a better class of opposition than Calzaghe.

Maske isnt considered "the best" of his division's history though, unlike the consensus that Calzaghe was.

We are talking since 1990 and Maske's division had more depth than what Calazghe was fighting around the time - fighting Billy Bob Bailey the mental midget in a world title defence or making a mandatory against a man who knocked out in a round in an earlier title fight is not an impressive resume.

Then if that is the criteria... then the best "white" fighter sinve 1990... Kostya Tszyu... followed by Vladimir Klitschko
