Sadam Ali

I understand that we're all caught up with the Kovalev win, but can Sadam Ali get some attention?

Someone here labeled Abregu the most concussive puncher at 147. He has also been talked up because his only loss was to Bradley. But Ali proved to be the better boxer and then took him out. I was really impressed by how good Ali looked and how he fought after proving he could hurt Abregu.

147 gets more crowded.

Ali must have carried out his fight plan to perfection, winning rounds with almost no risk taken. The fight was very boring until Ali knocked down Abregu but after that he got more adventurous and really finished in style. Knocking Abregu out is a great result, well done.

I picked Ali to win by close decision, so the result caught me a little off guard. The way he lunges in and over extends himself is a bit concerning, someone faster can catch him.

The main issue Ali will have in the future is his size, hes a very small 147 and only hydrates 3-4 pounds, he should be fighting at 140 as those guys at 147 hydrate in the 160's, Ali has great talent and i was extremely impressed, but he should move down, he was 132 as an amatuer, not very big!

He boxed well.

He seemed to have a good game-plan and understanding of how his abilities compared to Abregu's, and he was fast and sharp with his hands and feet throughout the fight, maintaining a good mix of taking the offensive lead and counterpunching. I thought he looked as though he were wilting a bit in the 8th and first part of the 9th, but he quickly turned it around and showed that he still had some firepower left.

In his last fight he looked mediocre in being rocked and scraping by with a SD against mediocre non-puncher Jeremy Bryan, so it goes to show that fighters can have on and off nights.

He did look smaller than Abregu, if he could get to 140 all the better if not I think he takes Keith Thurman right now.

Frankly I was surprised at how easily he handled Abregu and the damage that his shots were causing for facing a larger man. I think Sadam Ali is someone to keep an eye on.

Abregu looked liked like he was on the verge of breaking Ali, but Sadam was able to turn it around. To do that in your first huge step up in class is crazy.

I don't now how far he'll go, but Ali is not going to lose to an ordinary fighter ... unless he gets caught with some Garcia/Khan shit.

Ali fought a good fight.
He knew Abregu could punch and fought one of the text book type of fights against a solid hitter, there's a number of ways to do it and Sadaam chose this one.
Ali got on his bike for the first few rounds to take some steam out of Abregu's charge. he stood his ground from time to time during the middle rounds and scored a knockdown and finished Abregu off late.
Quality performance and well executed.

Downside to Sadam is his natural boxing ability.
His movement is cut from the cloth and it gets him out of sticky situations, he has good flow.
