Bryant Jennings finally boxrec USA number 1

Post by funso banjo baby »

presumably szpilka's win has added to jennings stats??

anyway..its a good move.

any domestic league that has Team Wilder creating a number 1 spot based on nothing...is in big trouble.

No. Jennings's rating went from 357 to 357 over the weekend. Boxrec's formula does not give a fighter retroactive credit for what his victims later achieve.

Jennings became the #1 American primarily through attrition, as Arreola, Chambers, Mitchell, and Thompson have all fallen in recent years. But the key ingredient is that, I believe two weeks ago, Wilder got hit mildly with a poor opposition penalty, which brought his rating from 390 down to 354. It had been 18 months since Wilder's fight with Audley Harrison, which was the last opponent of at least half Wilder's own rating. Surely it's preposterous that Harrison's rating was higher than Malik Scott's, but Harrison's rating was inflated at the time. The boxrec formula really is a sucker for those prizefighter tournaments. Malik Scott also wasn't even in the top 35 at the time.
