Just read a good interview with Denis Hobson. He says one of his biggest disappointments was with Ricky Hatton. A promotional deal did not work out and Denis feels hard done by. He says it was a handshake deal. He does not entirely blame Ricky, because Ricky wasn't there at the time. I re-read it to make sure I understood it right. So he didn't shake Ricky's hand but regards it as a deal with Ricky. Hobson is no mug, he is a very successful businessman but the lack of clear agreements in boxing is getting ridiculous.

Agreements go wrong for only ONE reason - money. No matter how you describe a fall out it all boils down to money.

Or ego,but mainly money


I hate it when boxers or trainers say "boxing's a business"

Of course its true or so many people wouldnt say it and im sure many more believe it but it shouldnt be a business,its a sport,it's not as if Messi and Mourihno etc get involved about where their teams are goung for their teams pre season money spinning tour,pisses me off that phrase because you only ever hear it said when somone is trying to justify something

Bang on. There's a saying something like, when you see something happen and you don't understand why it happened, it's money.

In business, agreements only go wrong because people are legally naive and don't cover themselves with a proper contract. Yes it's honourable to trust people, but covering yourself legally is basics!

Being a ruthless B'stard helps also.
