Reuben has a book out "on amazon" and i must admit its a must read im half way through it he names and shames a few big names of british boxing and talks about how much money he should of got for fights and what he ended up getting (he was ripped off bigtime) so far in the book and after all thats happened to him he still seems a very humble man the books called "Broken Dreams:the untold truth"

Lets be honest a book that spills the beans pisses all over a book that just plays it safe.

Is it self published? I cannot believe a publisher would be stupid enough to put out a title with controversial allegations or statements without checking its wording with a legal team.

You say that, but the fact is that we have VERY powerful defamation and libel laws in this country.

There's a reason you don't read any controversial passages in the vast majority of boxing books, because the consequences of unsubstantiated allegations are severe financially.

I suppose if you self published, and you didn't have a pot to piss in, there's not so much they can do - you're not going to go to jail for it, as it's a civil matter.

Perhaps some people find talking about boxing, and boxing books, and boxing book publishing interesting - if you don't then you can always find another thread to comment on - it's not actually mandatory to comment on, or even read threads that you feel are not interesting.

If it is anything like the Meldrick Taylor book, then it is a must-have for me. However, I can only find it on a Kindle edition - does anyone know if it will be released in hard copy?

If you click on the picture thumbnail you can read the first few chapters using the "Look Inside" facility.

The writing isn't great, but it's better than I expected as the things Ruben writes on his Facebook page are barely legible and he comes across as a bit of nutjob.

Ruben probably doesn't give much of a toss about UK liable as he seems to be living back in South Africa and he's clearly self published over the internet. Without a UK publisher and the fact that you would be downloading a MOBI file probably held on Amazon's servers outside of this country, I think suing him would be very difficult. Of course that have been many instances of so-called liable tourism which people living overseas being sued because the accusers has stated that the the fact a text can be viewed in this country is the equivalent of it being published here, but a couple of landmark rulings last year now mean it is much more difficult to pursue than it used to be.

Oh yeah, that would be really clever wouldn't it - get the site in trouble for distributing the defamation.

X2. Where did Orbtastic's labour of love thread go? The one where he transcribed parts of Meldrick's book, it was like trying to read Finnegan's Wake.

I think you're exaggerating.the defamation is, if it exists, at the door of the book. There is nothing defamatory about detailing the contents of the book I would suggest. Especially if the word 'allegedly' is used enough times! Lol
