Where do you rank Wladimir Klitschko among the ATG HWs?

How would you rate his career up until the end of 2014?
I made this same thread a couple of years ago, but since then Wladimir has beaten the #1 and #2 ranked heavyweights (Pulev and Povetkin).
I think he's clearly well into the all-time top ten now, arguably in the top 5.

Top 5 is too high in my opinion.I have no problem with him in the top 10 but I just
am not sure. This is a topic that requires studying over 100 years of heavyweights.
I do think he is a nightmare for any heavyweight in history.
I really need to give it some hard thought on where I would rate him.

Ali
Louis
Marciano
Holmes
Tyson
Lewis
Foreman
Klitschko
Frazier
Johnson
Dempsey
Tunney
Jeffries
I voted 'top 15' but obviously he is a bit higher than that if you make a few quick calculations.

Also, I'd give Foreman a really great chance in beating Wladimir.

Nice joke......hahahaa
Apart from Ali and and lewis ....the rest have zero chance beating wladimier......poll means nothing in the forum,,,,,since it is american forum and full of afro american
I don't usually have the patience to deal with CS stumblebums but for you I will bite.
You are missing the point when ranking fighters from different eras, everyone knows 185lbs Marciano would have no chance against 6ft 7ins Klitsckho but there is more than the factor of who can beat who but their legacy, what they left behind when they retired, their reign and who they fought and how the manner they won their fights as well as any historical 'firsts' that they achieved.
And if you think Vladimir will do anything the size of the comeback of Foreman then think again sonny jim (and I am neither African, American or any combination of the two).

The current scene is now full of so many kids who know so little about boxing history, this whole thread is just troll bait from not white supremacist "Freedom" aka Tunney.
Klitschko is outside the top 20. The value of the number of title defenses drastically decreases in the era of numerous paper belts along with reigning when the talent depth of boxing in the upper weight classes has truly gone to crap, although I give Wlad credit for consistency; a trait historically rare in the HW division.

Your late vintage ( i dont undertsand what it is) was nothing more than a punching bag with heavy arm but extremmly slow....
Again, you are missing the point when compiling 'greatness'
Nothing VK will do will equal what George Foreman did on his comeback - it was historically significant.
I would say an important factor of 'greatness' as heavyweight champion of the world is that the world knows who you are, the world knew who Ali was, they knew who Louis was and they knew who Foreman was, the world knew who Tyson was - how much of the world cared about Klitsckho (the supposed flagbearer of the sport as world heavyweight champion) beating Pulev?
How many people name their pitbull terriers 'Vlad' or 'Klitsckho'?
And that is why he doesn't rank as highly as some of the other world champions (who he could have beat if he was matched with them in their primes - he outweighs Marciano by a good 80 pounds

) Klitsckhos superior conditioning, training techniques and diet give him that unfair advantage over someone like Jack Dempsey - it would be a bit like the modern SEAL unit beating a company of Boer kommandos from 1900 with their mauser rifles - it would be a silly comparison to make to say the SEAL unit were better soldiers than the Boer Kommando unit.

You call me a white supremacist, which I'm most definitely not. But at this point in Wlad's career, after a decade of dominance, only a racist
black supremacist would rate Wlad below the top 20.

I take it the poll was asking about ledger, not imaginary match-ups w/ a 21st century 6'6" 245lb Ukrainian with extremely low body fat percentage.

Around 25 is probably sensible.

I'm not a fan at all but one thing that cannot be argued is the consistency of his career.
His losses were bad ones which kills his claim as a top 5 heavyweight and of course his overall legacy of his career which didn't spark up the world - but like Holmes, he will be regarded in his proper light when he hangs them up (I agree with 'Tiny Acres' on that one) and he will be regarded as a top 10 heavyweight - I am afraid.

He isn't known anywhere else outside of Germany and the Ukraine to be honest.
Ali, Tyson, Marciano and Louis were known by everyone around the world - the whole planet would tune into an Ali fight, he actually did more for the spread of boxing than probably anyone in the history of the sport. He boxed in places like Jakarta and Kiniasha - he was even a hero in the Soviet Union where professional athletes were looked down upon on.
The whole planet didn't tune into Vlad's fight last night, the Japanese are not queuing to pay him billions of yen for him to fight in Tokyo, a generation of tough guys don't have Vlad posters on their bedroom wall - you know what I mean?
That is a factor in regards greatness. It isn't about America really, it is a world heavyweight title (many of the holders happen to be Americans) Gene Tunney was a great fighter and beaten once, but his legacy is not as solid or as high profile as Jack Dempsey's - a man he beat twice, but he beat him by doing his roadwork backwards and that affects his historical legacy.
'Capturing the public's imagination' is part of the job description of a great world heavyweight champion.
