Watching the wlad fight now - my god he is awful - I've not seen any of his other fights, but based on this performance, Briggs would make a better fight of it.

I was surprised to his defence was terrible.

Saw his fights with Ustinov and Dimitrenko and was impressed and at the time thought he would beat Povetkin easy.

Perhaps he was just intimidated, he fought like a right berk.

He's been hurt badly early by Klitsckos power. It was only immense gameness keeping him coming. His legs never recovered from the first round.

Pulev was never a threat in my opinion. But bear in mind also that Klitschko's style tends to make everyone looked bad.

He's barely lost a round in his career; with the exception of the rounds he got knocked down/chinned!

I'd never seen Pulev before as my interest in Heavyweights has been on the slide for years, but I was shocked how the consensus world number three was so bad. He looked like the sort of blob that Tommy Morrison and Shannon Briggs used to whack out in one round routinely.

Come on.... That is simply ridiculous. Not only is he not fat, but he can actually fight. He didn't look good in this fight, but largely bec of Wlad. And at least he landed some shots. He's decent, even if you hadn't seen any other of his fights, he's proficient.

I've seen a lot worse contenders. At least Pulev tried to make a fight of it unlike Leapai who waited around to get hit and pick up the paycheck. Pulev rocked him with a jab in the first round, but unfortunately right after that was downed heavily by a left hook. He never recovered from that.

I've only seen him last night, so I'm probably being harsh on the one round victim analogy but from what I saw he was a stand up target with no head movement, he was on his back within about two minutes and out in five against a guy who is not noted for quick blowouts of decent opponents. His best punch was the Chuck Wepner rabbit punch, and one jab.

Forgive me if I didn't exactly see the second coming of Riddick Bowe in there fella (or even Tommy Morrison), to me he looked like a brave, limited fighter.

No, I wasn't comparing him to Bowe, Briggs or Morrison, you're absolutely right. His ability level is more clubfighter than contender.

Pulev was one of the best opponents out there to face him! Pulev done know different to what he normally does & I was glad to see flattend!!

That was the word that sprung to mind within seconds of the opening round - clubfighter. It does put Wlad's reign in a certain light, when someone with as limited a skillset is that is a top contender.

Unfortunately, the talent pool in the heavyweight division is drying up - Wlad's dominance is taking away fighters desire to actually learn their trade properly, instead feating on stiffs, getting into contention, then picking up their paycheck after Wlad beats them easily. I don't know that there's a single heavyweight out there, who actually believes they have a cat in hell's chance of beating him.

There have been some guys with skills, but they were just way too small to offer any kind of threat, there aren't any big men out there with the skills and/or experience to trouble Wlad, and there's nobody on the horizon either. I can see Wlad surpassing Louis' record for defences quite easily.

Im not saying he looked good against Wlad but overall he is decent and was the deserved NO2 in the division based on who he'd beaten and so on. He was also a bronze medalist at the world amateur champions, won gold at the european championships aswell as bronze at another european championships and a gold and silver respectively at the EU championships. He's no chump.

Well, he sure looked like one, I can only guess whatever gameplan he had fell to bits when he got in there. He looked totally useless.

Maybe the people who saw him for the first time last night should watch some of his other fights, such as those against Ustinov, Dimitrenko, and Thompson. Wlad is hands down the best fighter in the division and he tends to make everyone he faces look bad, so I think it's unfair to let yesterday's fight be the main grounds for a general assessment of Pulev. He got hurt early and I think that may have thrown him off, but even then I thought he did more in five rounds than most of Wlad's opponents do over longer periods.

I'm confident that Pulev would easily beat Briggs, and I suspect that he'd beat several contenders as well. Interesting that hardly anyone was saying that Pulev was awful prior to this fight as he worked his way to the consensus #1 spot; perhaps that should be a sign that Wlad was largely responsible for him not looking too good.
