Jamie McDonnell opponent change for this Saturday

A new opponent was announced a few days ago due to the original opponent Walberto Ramos having visa problems. The new opponent, Javier Chacon, isn't ranked by the WBA. Be interesting to see if this is still sanctioned as a 'world' title fight and if so to what depths certain people will go to enable and/or justify it. (For the record Boxrec currently have Chacon ranked #53, Ramos #108.)

Chacon actually challenged Anselmo Moreno for the real WBA BW title earlier on in the year, lost a wide decision by all accounts

expe made a good point on CS yesterday about Sky trying to reveal that info without revealing that McDonnell doesnt hold the real WBA belt

Its a tricky one

Shows what happens when you try to be cute and make something out to be what it's not, a hardly credible world title defence is made even less so

I'd love to see Rigondeaux gatecrash either the presser or fight, calling out Quigg to come and challenge him

Nothing against Scott who seems a nice bloke and an honest pro,i just hate the way people carrying on like Guillermo doesnt exist

Infact it would be great to see all the WBA Super champs come out and belittle that regular thingymajigg

Agree with you 100%.

If I was involved with Rigondeaux I would have him turn up at a pre fight press conference with the WBA belt and inform the press that Scott Quigg is a joke and make a real public challenge and watch Joe Gallagher shit himself.

That's the kinda stuff he needs to do, has he even got a new promoter yet?

Isn't Quigg always going to have a big fight after his next one?

It's been a frustrating year. It does seem the policy might change now tho because the word is it will be March when he fights next. This gives a chance to actually get into serious talks. Up until now he has always had his next date scheduled straight away (usually getting announced in post fight interviews for 10 weeks time.) I'm not expecting Rigo or Frampton or Avalos for obvious reasons. But I think Martinez or Galahad might be realistic shots for March.

I also doubt that Scott Quigg wants to fight the best in his weight - but at least he's fighting a top-10 ranked contender for his upcoming title defence. We've seen him put away so many fringe challengers recently, that frankly I'm surprised that the WBA allow him away with it.
:shame:

On second consideration, they probably wouldn't if he was the "regular" WBA Champion.

Jamie McDonnell on at 6pm tonight?!
