As much as I've moaned, I'd buy it for a fiver but 17 quid is taking the piss.

Yep, I've posted a similar thought before. I'd definitely end up buying it if it was only 6 quid. I'd probably be about 50/50 on buying if it was a tenner. But 17 quid is an absolute liberty for this card imo.

Edit: actuallly, thinking about it, I'd probably be more like 75/25 in favour of buying for a tenner.

Sky and the Promoter are latching on to the casual fans. They dont care about purists.

16.95 is a piss take with not even a genuine world title fight on the bill, a fiver is all the bill is worth if it has to be PPV. I may have bought it if was that price but even then you're encouraging the rip off

I cant wait to see the numbers for this fight. If we ever see them.

It really is a slightly above average night of boxing, but if there are a lot of PPV buys then I fear then it is in Sky's best interests to put every night like this on PPV.

Sky's hype machine has been in overdrive, every programme has mentioned it and how to purchase the fight, Soccer AM plugged it, Sky Sports News have been plugging it and so did Gillette Soccer Saturday just now.

I think the hype from Sky has been on a par with Froch-Groves II, the difference being, the card will not deliver and half the audience will be glad when the whole show is over, the other half will be drunk.

How anyone can watch 'the best of Bellew' without feeling like a mug, is beyond me, and not forgetting 'Clev-Bellew the tactics'... It must be the most over-hyped fight in UK boxing history with nothing on the line and hardly any interest bar what Sky are pushing. Not one person I work with has mentioned the fight.

This is what I've been saying all along - the interest from the casuals just doesn't seem to be there. Not one person in my work has mentioned the fight either - considering I work in Cardiff, you'd expect at least a bit of interest due to the Cleverly connection, but there hasn't been any. Most of my mates still don't even really know it's happening.

Agree BB, like you, I just can't see how the fight can do decent numbers.

I don't know what the percentage of Sky to Virgin Media customers is but Virgin customers(like me) don't get HD on Sky Box Office anyway. Surely, that is a deal breaker for most. If paying PPV isn't bad enough, watching SD compared to HD is the brown sauce on the pork-pie if you will.

But would that actually be kerching? How much have SKY invested in the fight? I remember when Haye vs Fury fell to bits the first time, it was revealed SKY was down £700,000 being the money they'd spent making the various Beyond The Ropes and Countdown shows plus advertising the PPV in newspapers and on radio. Bellew vs Cleverly 2 has been advertised across all SKY branded channels pretty heavily over the past 8 days. Just doing that must have lost SKY a small fortune in lost advertising revenue.

All in SKY have probably poured between £700,000 and £900,000 into marketing, advertising and promoting the PPV event.

I don't know why anyone buys PPV or subscribes to Sky anymore when there's plenty of web streams and android boxes to view live sports on anymore, stop ripping yourselves off.
