Want to cringe yourself into an early grave? Read Hearn Sun

Want to cringe yourself into an early grave? Read the awful Barry Hearn Sun column about the 'big' show (er not the real big show, that's Pac of course)....

I can't link to it unfortunately (or maybe fortunately?!) as the Sun, like all Murdoch papers require payment to view the site.

But.... And I realise he has to big up his and his son's show..... But the hyperbole and exaggeration in it is risible. Ridiculous. Of Audley delusional levels.

In the article it seems that every fight is a 50/50, and a huge risk to the UK fighter (maybe Barry should look at the betting odds, but hey...)

He saves his climax for the Clev - Bellew fight. Apparently Barry says it will be the fight of the year and he 'would not miss it for the world'.... Sounds like Pac-Mayweather but no, he's talking Bellew-Clev.

The final quote takes the biscuit as what is clearly the ironic comedy write up of the year: I quote verbatim: "All in all, six hours of unmissable action (ed - not so far Barry :-)) I AM SO HAPPY FOR THE LUCKY PUNTERS WHO GOT TO BUY A TICKET FOR THIS SELL OUT SHOW. For the rest of you, it's Sky box office - don't miss it!"

Sweet Jesus. PPV sales must be poor. He makes allegedly look like the king of objectivity.....

Haha...cringeworthy indeed but, to be fair, wouldn't we all do the same to promote our own product?

I understand that, but I'm not sure I'd be able to look at myself in the mirror for a week.

And it's meant to be an editorial column, not an advertorial.... I'm know how it works, and Matchroom are Sky's favourite promoter, and Hearn is writing in a Murdoch paper bigging up a Sky (Murdoch) event..... But still, Lord it's over the Top!

Might as well read sponsored by Matchroom rather than making it out to be serious journalism

Would we all try to sell such a poor product? I suggest we all look at Ohashi card on December 30th to see what a good card looks like.

Mike Costello was bigging up last nights show on 5 Live this morning

Saying its opened up massive window for British boxing as all our fighters won and can move on to bigger and better things

I thought the whole thing being PPV was a joke and glad it completely flopped from start to finish

Reminded me of Warren's Magnificent Seven PPV bill a few years back, although even that started out as a much better card on paper than last night's before falling apart with pull outs etc.

It's the continued trend of trying to sell fighters rather than decent fights. If you'd put the six favourites from last nights undercard in an accumulator you would have got odds of around 1/2.
