Arum continuing to get over on fools with his PPV nonsense.

This entire day was filled with mismatches from the British card to the Top Rank card. Just a crap weekend of boxing altogether.

Algieri will be enrolled in med school by the fall. Belly dat.

Algieri got a million dollars for that ass raping. He's not a terrible fighter but belonged nowhere near a ring with Manny.

Algieri can still beat some guys at 140. He's already done more with his career in 1 night than he ever thought possible. He can retire happy tmrw. Not only is he a rich man now, he's also a smart man who can make $ outside the ring.

History and myth dictates that Ali was super human.

Let's not let reality get in the way. Ali is not even the best heavyweight of all time but I bet he'd win a poll among the general public.

Not seen last nights fight yet but can't see Chris being around that long. I think he'll retire soon after he loses his world title.

I really wouldnt mind seeing him in with Lamont Peterson, even after this beatdown.

Algieri is a good fighter, and the way he was shoved forward to this type of fight has probably destroyed a long term career.

Clearly, the fight should have been stopped in the ninth; Algieri's legs were OUT.
But it looks to me the ref knew this had to go the distance.
He let Algieri run for the whole fight and be negative.

why?
he is now 40-1 in professional fights.
I am sure there are many guys with worse records that made a good living.

not a personal attack, but it just annoys me that there is a general perception that if a fighter loses a fight, he is finished.
if s/he is good why are they finished after a loss?

PPV Joke. Glad I didn't get it. $70 with no real undercard and the ME was a mismatch.

If this ME had Fury-Chisora on it with a GGG fight or something for $50 that would be borderline reasonable.

This was a JOKE

Before he injured his hand, he looked better than Mayweather or Pacquiao in all their recent fights. Of course, it is easy to look great against limited opposition, but I doubt somebody else could look so technically dominant against a similar opponent. His only obvious drawback is limited power.

I agree 100%. Arum lobbied to get Floyd vs Maidana boycotted, but thinks putting Pac in vs a light hitting light welter guy that has 20 fights total with no amateur experience is worthy of a main event PPV?

I agree mostly.... But to be fair, PAC man would've fought Ruslan Provodiknov but unfortunately he got beaten by Algieri, so chris took his place.

I realize that, but if Arum wanted to stay true to form, so to speak, they would have fought Ruslan anyway like they did with Rios to make a fight "exciting for the fans". Basically they billed this fight as interesting because of the height difference and that Algieri was smart. Pac vs Ruslan would have been a better fight, and personally I thought Ruslan won that fight. No big deal, glad I saved my money.

I thought Ruslan lost that fight fair and square despite the knockdowns and the occasional power shot he'd land here and there but still even with that loss I thought he should be the one fighting Manny even though he didn't earn it.

All of this is in keeping with Arum's plan to ensure that MP doesn't fight anyone with the possibility of putting him to sleep, Bob will keep him from power punchers. Notice how the last 3 fights Manny has had have all been guys who can't really punch, by the next fight most people will finally see what I'm talking about.

I can hear the drums of war banging but they will be hollowed by the next Pacquiao fight, mark my words.

dafuq are you talking about? He fought Rios right after he fought Marquez. They pursued a 5th fight with Marquez, the guy who put him to sleep.

And Bradley, though has a low knockout percentage landed some big right hands on Pacs chin. It shows he has a granite chin.

Pac isnt afraid of fighting people nor are his handlers afraid of him getting knocked out. This is absurd.

Exactly, you proved my point.

Bradley or Rios are no power punchers and now Manny is moving back down to 140 to take advantage of smaller fighters when bigger fighters like GGG has been calling him out. Marquez doesn't need Manny, he already put his head to bed viciously and there's no need to see a repeat of that.

Completely agree with the OP. How the hell did Algieri get a fight with Pac Man??? Yes he beat Provodnikov, but that doesn't give you direct access to a top 3 p4p fighter.

At least we get two 50/50 fights in the UK this weekend.

@KBB: You are confused. GGG has never called Manny out. It is Floyd who is running from him and a crowd of other dangerous fighters.

Maybe he realized who is more of a challenge and why waste his time with an easy fight like Manny. Did GGG send a contract for Floyd to sign like Mayweather did to Manny?

If not, then he isn't running but we know who had a 50-50 contract but didn't sign it, now don't we??

GGG is obviously a B side which is why contract should be coming from Floyd.

When has GGG called Manny out? GGG has called Floyd out more than he has Manny. Why hasn't Floyd fought GGG then?
