PPV Show Value For money

Thought this was a very poor show and for PPV is this what we can expect from sky and match room in the future .

If they both consider it a success & it achieved what they wanted to then yes.
Both Sky & Matchroom new of the backlash & chose to continue so that shows that they will be happy to do it again for a similar card.

In terms of quality of the main event fighters, I'd say it was by far the worst quality of fighters headlining a PPV that I've ever seen.
Talk of a rubbermatch? They'd be lucky to sell out the York Hall with that crap.

Fair few people seemed to buy it though - talking of people that I know who wouldn't normally have watched a standard Saturday fight night type show, which is a shame.

Seriously hope not mate!
Although, I did hear a guy at work say he nearly got the fight with a couple of other lads but they were too drunk to go through with it. Only time anyone has mentioned it.

Was genuinely surprised to be honest, as I was quite pleased it seemed to have gone under the radar but then a few people actually mentioned it to me (although they were all actually look for pubs rather than to buy it themselves) and I saw a fair few posts from people on facebook who I guess in fairness may have been using a stream but I just assumed bought it.

I was out Saturday and even if I was in definitely wouldn't have bought it. But a chap at work who goes to quite a lot of live boxing went to the bill and here's what he thought:
I thought it was good bill. The first fight started at 5.15 and it finished at around 12.30 so I thought it was good value for money especially compared to some others I’ve been to.
The McDonnell fight was a good, pretty even one. I had McDonnell 2 up when his opponent pulled out randomly. I wouldn’t be confident at all in him beating Kameda as he hasn’t looked great since he beat Ceja.
The Otake/Quigg and Smith/Sjlocka fights were decent but I would have liked both to have moved up the gears a little bit. Especially Smith who was always in control but never really made a concerted effort to put the guy away. Otake was really game though.
Bradley Saunders looked really poor. Was just loading up on single shots.
Joshua looked a beast. I think the Johnson fight will be perfect for him as it’s currently impossible to match him at the moment and please people.
Degale looked class but the stoppage was very dodgy. The ref (I think it may have been Howard Foster) waved it off when he was on the way down. I wish the refs would just give themselves time to make clear decision.
Groves looked average. He got caught far too cleanly too many times and doesn’t seem to have the same pop or speed in his punches. Degale would beat him comfortably at the moment.
Clev v Bellew was decent. Pretty tactical first 8 rounds but Bellew swept the last 4. I cant believe O’Connor gave Clev the win – a complete joke of a decision.
Overall definitely one of the better bills I’ve been to and I wouldn’t have had too much issue getting the PPV for it.
I haven't seen any fights on the bill so I can't really pass comment.

Yeah but with atmosphere and beer it may well have been a good event live. Watching it elsewhere i thought it was a terrible night for boxing for 2 reasons -
1. The public were sold on talk and hype from bellew and cleverly with the promise of a war - what they got was a low class borefest. And from the backlash people clearly feel duped and it wont have gained boxing any fans.
2. The majority of the big named fighters bar DeGale and AJ showed that actually they arent as good as they have been made out to be. Quigg, Groves, Saunders, Bellew and Cleverly's stock all dropped substantially.

Get used to it, when I railed on about Mis-Matchroom as they were gathering pace a couple of years back I got ridiculed, now most people are seeing what they're all about, Eddie won't stop he's got a secure contract, if you watch Matchroom fights expect to be disappointed.

This weekend's is a one off good card, nothing of regular quality coming from Warren who has has very, very few good cards this year.

Yes this weekend's bill is quality, its just a shame its few and far between a part of it is because Hearn steals his boxers & puts them on shite shows, but when we assess 2014 if this card lives up to what is expected (like the PPV lived up to what it expected - shite) it will be the card of the year

Yeah Don's going way overboard saying 'card of the year.' I mean if you guys were bored with Bellew v Clev then get ready for Gavin v Skeete. And Fury v Chisora and Saunders v Eubank don't eclipse Froch v Groves, Mitchell v Maduma and DeGale v Gonzalez. All those guys mentioned are solidly World ranked and were facing off. Plus lets not forget how good the Manchester card looked a week out. Same with the Mathews v Dingsdale card.
It's also an over-reaction to say the weekend was the worst PPV ever seen. Haye v Harrison plus a poor undercard would get my vote. And Cleverly v a binman with Groves v DeGale 1 and Frankie Gavin vs Young Muttley then 8 and 4 rounders beneath that have to be right up there.

While ppl continue to pay for sh1t they will continue to serve sh1t. It was a shite card one side had decent names the other had a whos who of boxing,i didnt know any of them.

The problem (or beauty) of all sport is that you can never be 100% certain of how it's going to turn out. I thought Froch-Groves 2 was disappointing, apart from the finish, and Cleverly-Bellew 2 was bloody awful. On the other hand Coyle-Brizuela (?) was brilliant. It is a chance we have to take and, I suppose, part of the excitement is the anticipation.

I bought it and my honest view is the Quigg and DeGale fights were at least an entertaining watch and the rest was basically papp. I was surprised by how poor Groves was in the early round and think he’s basically burnt out. The main event was a joke and Cleverly’s fault.
It shouldn’t have been PPV, no question, but looking back I’m still amazed at some of the general hysteria. It cost let than a Dominos pizza and yet many folk were practically freaking out.

I think it's more a case of people were annoyed that if a card this poor is PPV will it mean every half decent card in the future is PPV?
So rather it was an outburst over the future implications this PPV could have.

I thought it was a snooze fest of a card, that's why I went fishing in the lovely clear stream near where I live, I may nip down there again this Saturday.
