Seriously this year we had SO MANY fights getting cancelled because of injuries which is VERY dissapointing we had poor matchups very bad PPV cards and no huge changes in the p4p list at all..

hope 2015 will be very different.. (Cotto-canelo , Floyd-pacman , Golovkin-Cotto , Froch-Chavez , Lomachenko-Walters , Kovalev-Adonis , Garcia-Mathysse 2)

Lol. We've been waiting for that one for what seems like decades. I wouldn't hold my breath on it happening next year.

No, it was pretty solid. Pacquiao - Bradley 2, Crawford - Gamboa, Walters - Donaire, Kovalev - Hopkins, Cotto - Martinez, Alvarez - Angulo, Alvarez - Lara, Brook - Porter, Gonzalez - Yaegashi, Frampton - Martinez, and so on; plus the heavyweight division had a very solid year. Mayweather - Maidana 1 was supposed to be completely uneventful, but ended-up being entertaining and controversial. On paper, Golovkin - Geale was supposed to be meaningful, but it was an awful fight. I think the biggest knocks on 2014 are that the cruiserweight division and Andre Ward failed to offer-up anything worthwhile.

So anyways, no, I'm pretty sure this hasn't been the worst year. It feels like a fairly above average year. I've witnessed a lot of years where basically nothing happens, and we're just desperately waiting for Celestino Caballero - Juan Manual Lopez, or Mayweather - Pacquiao, or Wlad - Haye, or Wlad - Povetkin, or Pavlik - Abraham, or Mayweather - Paul Williams, or Mayweather - Margarito, or Mayweather - Cotto, or Ward - Bute; and basically the potential fights sometimes go unrealized for years or never. In this year, we saw the top 2 heavyweights fight, 2 of the top 3 light heavyweights, possibly the top 2 light middleweights, 2 of the 3 elite welterweights, possibly the top 2 lightweights, and so on.

The big PPV fights, and notably their undercards, were disappointing for the most part (though Mayweather-Maidana I was a good fight), but there were some very good fights this year.
Froch-Groves II was a great event and the fight lived up to expectations. Roman Gonzalez had a great year and beat the lineal champ Yaegashi in a good fight. Walters added a very good win over Donaire. Some other fighters who advanced their careers significantly include Kovalev, Crawford, Porter, Frampton & Golovkin.
There have been some great fights between contenders this year: Coyle vs Brizuela, Cunningham vs Mansour and Guerrero vs Rosas were all very entertaining action fights.
Andy Lee provided a great thrill with his one-punch come-from-behind KO of John Jackson- that's my favorite KO this year.

I'm sure TheBeast could enlighten us further as to why this was a decent year for boxing as he's seen all of the fights.

I'll not claim to watch as many fights as The Beast but I'd suggest this was the year for the hardcore fan and the little man fan. The insanely quick rise of Kosei Tanaka and Naoya Inoue has been sensational, the Takayama Vs Rodriguez Jr fight was amazing, as you've mentioned Roman's year has been brilliant, Salido Vs Terdsak was unexpectedly amazing and Mendoza's fight on the under-card was incredible, Koki Eto Vs Ardin Diale was spectacular, the rise of the soviets has continued with Lomachenko, Usyk, Khytrov, Beterbiev, Kovalev and Golovkin all continuing to impress, fights-like Tommy Coyle Vs Daniel Eduardo Brizuela, Travis Dickinson vs Matty Clarkson, Rodrigo Guerrero vs Daniel Rosas and Giovani Segura vs Felipe Salguero have been great as well.

Also HBO and Showtime appear to have a new rival in BeIN Sports Espanol which has CONSISTENTLY delivered great bouts whilst Iron Mike Promotions and their matchmaker deserves a huge pat on the back at the end of the year.

Yeah at the casual end of things it's been a crap year, if you dig a little however and go below Light Welterweight it's been a strong and interesting year

Yea but I really cant remember the last year we has SO MANY INJURIES. A very unlucky year

Maybe not the best, but certainly not the worst. Many good fights in lower divisions aswell.

What makes you think that Mayweather -v- Pacquiao will happen in 2015?

We've been waiting since 2008 for the two of them to get it on & they've never got close, so why would next year be any different?
