British Heavyweight Division..

This is how I see the British HW Division at the moment -
a) Tyson Fury, David Haye.
b) Dereck Chisora. David Price.
c) Anthony Joshua, Sam Sexton.
d) Audley Harrison, Martin Rogan, Michael Sprott, Matt Skelton, Ian Lewison.
e) Hughie Fury, Gary Cornish, Richard Towers, Dillian Whyte.
There are some interesting match-ups to be made in the division still.
I think Sam Sexton is an ideal opponent for Anthony Joshua after his Kevin Johnson fight.
Hughie Fury, Cornish, Towers and Whyte are interesting to keep an eye on when they step up to the d-level guys.

I think Joshua will smash Sexton better than Price did

Yeah, he will. I think AJ's above Price now.
After Price the next best is John McDermott. Pretty steep drop.

yea I agree but I think Sexton is the next step up on the domestic level that puts him in a position for the David Price fight in the summer...

You for real? Sprott is better than Sexton, so is Skelton come to that you a relation of sexton or something trying to get him one last pay day?

haha nah no relation to Sexton.
I just think Sexton is a step, if only ever so slightly, above Skelton and Sprott.
Just my opinion though fella...

I know it's a well-respected, traditional belt etc, but is there really any point AJ wasting time with the British title? Surely he's above fighting the likes of Sexton and McDermott. He's better off in these international fights for learning/experience and then going for the big names when he's ready.
Basically, at this point it should be more about the quality of opponent than the title. Price should be living proof of that. Bombing out Audley, Skelton, Sexton, Dallas and McDermott didn't exactly prepare him for the step up.

I really hope Hughie gets back on track. He has lovely boxing poise when he's 100%

If they can't deal with those 3 conclusively they might as well just crack on with their careers at the building site.

Probably best not to get dragged into the British heavyweight cycle of detritus. Danny Williams seemed to terminally retard his development by engaging in a never-ending series of bouts with Francis, Sprott, Harrison and Skelton.
I say best to leave those sluggards to it. Kevin Johnson is a good workout for Joshua. That way the title lies.

I think Eddie is waiting for the outcome of this weekends fight. I can see after Johnson, maybe Eddie chambers(he keeps calling aj out) then the loser of fury chisora before price

Probably agree with that but would you not go Price then the loser of Saturdays fight?

Kevin Johnson and Eddie Chambers have 24 rounds of Klitschko under their heaving 48-inch belts. Slippery and low risk, these are ideal back-to-back 10-rounders for Joshua, far more beneficial to his development than any British opposition. Go through those two then bomb the likes of Fury and Chisora for big money.

After Saturday night -
Tyson Fury - Hopefully he gets the Klitschko fight, failing that the Wilder/Stiverne winner which I reckon will actually be more of a fun fight. Tyson Fury vs. David Price in either Manchester or Liverpool could be the big domestic fight to make in the HW division.
Dereck Chisora - If Chisora is going to continue with his career I would put him in with Harrison, Sprott or Skelton next, just as a confidence builder, to lead to a summer match with Anthony Joshua.
Richard Towers - vs. Ian Lewison next.
Dillian Whyte - vs. Paul Butlin next.

AUDLEY HARRISON - 'I WANT TO FIGHT ANTHONY JOSHUA OR DERECK CHISORA' -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llsdcyq ... 45eHFGAduw
make the Chisora vs. Harrison fight. Both are coming off losses, both are from London it would be a great fight to get Chisora back in the W column again.
FW needs to make the call to Harrison and make the fight happen...

I'm not 100% on this but I've heard Chisora might not be able to continue fighting with the damage his eye socket took from Fury. I'm sure we'll hear more in the coming days though. Unless anyone knows the inside story?

What having lost 4 from 5?
Johnson is a gloves up punch bag with a pretty record.
Perfect for Joshua but lets not suggest he's a top 10-15 heavyweight. He barely was 18 months ago. He certainly isn't now.
Has gloves, will travel.

I agree. As much as I'd like to see AJ measured against some of the domestic crop, I think going down the Lonsdale route harmed David Price.

He spent too long fighting fellow Brits of similar ability levels, rather than fighting more capable non-British HW opponents. There was very little progression in the fights with Dallas, McDermott, Sexton, Harrison, Skelton. Consequently, he wasn't ready for the step up against TT.

No, he wasn't ready for the step up against Tony Thompson, so he shouldn't have taken that step. There was no need for that fight to be made, he should have taken a smaller step up in class.
Those English and British title wins were his best results. That was a step up from what he had been doing before and he got those 4 wins within an 11 month period. He was hardly wasting years of his career wasting away at British title level. If anything he should have stayed at that level and fought Sprott and Rogan next.
