Having looked at the scheduling, I notice there isn't any mention of his IBF eliminator, I know that Richard Hall got beat in his eliminator, my guess is that Woods' people expected Hall to win.

Anyone heard anything about what's happened to Woods eliminator? Is he lined up to fight Hoye?

Apparently he's in line to meet Hoye in September, should be on the BBC.
There's an article about Hoye in the latest BM - big banger with a dodgy chin by the sounds of it, did ten years for murder.
Clinton has a good chin, and it sounds like he'll need it.

I remember his dad, Bobby Rico Hoye came over here in the 80's, only to get bombed out in a round by Golden Boy Errol Christie.

You've got to hand it to Dennis Hobson, two title shots and an eliminator, and really Clinton isn't a world-class operator, excellent bit of negotiation on Hobson's part. Hobson, Harding and Waterman are the promoters aren't they?

By the sounds of him Hoye is quite tasty and can hit, I fancy he will knock Woods out quite early.

I don't know mate, Woods has a world-class chin, he got hit with everything but the kitchen sink by Jones Jr and took some almighty wallops from Glen Johnson too.

Woods needs to stand his ground a bit though, he never looks good when he tries to be a fancy Dan, he's just not slick enough to carry it off.

Real coup for Hobson. Woods didn't really deserve an IBF eliminator after losing twice to Johnson in Sheffield but Hobson has pulled it off.
Still, his man has to face Hoye and the lanky American won't be coming to piss about. He can bang and will want to avenge his old man's loss 20 years ago. His dad was flattened by Errol Christie...in Yorkshire.

Christ, he looks fornicating huge. The knockout of Hall was a good one.

I am not convinved on Woods' chin. While he took a few whacks from Jones, he has been hurt several times in fights and has often looked fragile to me. Johnson is not a puncher, and a former middleweight and he was rocking him to his boots. If Hoye has real dynamite in his fists as it seems he has then I think he stops Woods in the first half of the fight.

I'm not too confident of Wood's chances against this Hoye fellow. Aswell as Hall, he knocked out Donnell Wiggins in 1 round( it took Jeff Lacy8 ) . As for him being chinny, I think thats a bit premature, he got droped in one of his early fights ( just like David Haye ).

Woods can be hurt but tends to stay upright. He's only ever been floored by Ole Klemetsen (who can bang).

Seems like one guy on the way up meets another who has probably plateaued (or is on the way down). Either way I think Woods is up against it in this fight. I was surprised this guy stopped Hall, and while I haven't seen him fight, I think I read a round-by-round report at the time that said he had him down a couple times, so he must be a banger. Will be interesting to see if Woods can get himself up for this fight, because if he can't, he may well get kayo'd early, as I get the impression this bloke is gonna try and make an impression, and Woods' career at the top flight will be as good as over with an early stoppage against a rising contender.

Still haven't forgiven Woods for bombing the second Johnson fight. I had money on him to win. Christ, the first fight was a million times closer!

Hobson has put Warrens negotiating of big fights in the shade big time i think. Im not sure if Woods will ever get the world title he has been longing for though

I do tend to disagree with the view that this is underserving, after all he did officially get a draw with Johnson and its not as if he was anhilated in the rematch. I think he deserves to be an eliminator.
