Asked this in the rbr thread last night but probably got lost so apologies if it's been answered.

Since when have they been allowed to interview boxers in a British ring after the fight? I've noticed it over the last few weeks??

I'm sure after Eubank/Watson 2 Or was it Benn/McClellan??? The BBBofC ruled that no interviews could happen inside the ring.. hence interviews outside the ropes on the ring apron??

I was thinking the same thing!

As far as I know the board changed the rule in September.

I was too young to remember those fights properly at the time. Why were interviews in the ring outlawed so to speak?

I have some memory of it being because if a boxer was injured they wanted the ring as clear as possible, so interviews were then conducted outside the ring. I can't remember what lead to this, maybe it was the Bradley Stone death. As it was around that time of the change

I think it was the Michael Watson case that forced the rule, but something tells me it was enforced after Benn vs McClellan.... you see those post fight interviews and you know why the rules were changed...... shocking the BBBoC changed their position on it.

Its funny, don't mind seeing Max and Larry doing it in the states, but don't like it in the UK. Mainly I think because they mikes are on so the audience can here, so instead of real insightful comments from the fighters / trainers / promters.... we end up with "LIVERPOOL" and the like. Whereas with Larry and Max we can the insightful comments in the main.

We are sky/allegedly only doing in ring interviews for the main event. Is there a limited quota of matches on the card that can be in ring under new rules.... looks all awkward.

It was after Hoko had his face pulped by Marcos Villasana in Manchester in 1990. As the Scouser was being interviewed in the ring, his horribly swollen eyes were seeping blood.

pretty sure it was after eubank accused watson of "being on something" after the rematch
