Sad.......Pathetic.... :(

500K purse and 50% had to go to taxes then after camp fees this is all he's left with DAMN!! :KO:

He puts on a the best performance shown against Hopkins EVER and this is all the man takes home

that it insane no way they could get away offering Mayweather crap purses like that

I truly believe in this world, the way people normally operate you have to be very assertive and

basically a jerk with very little feelings to really get by! The asshole Mayweather because he's an

ass....gets 40million-50million paydays. Judge Judy the rude and very obnoxious TV judge takes

home 30million dollars a year. Simon Cowell the little rude, arrogant, and brash reality star

took home a WHOPPING 90million dollars in 2013. Being nice and all mild mannered gets you

nowhere in this world..... The best light heavyweight in the world many believe has to get a

mortgage because he can't afford cash. Amazing....

and people wonder why Stevenson doesn't want to fight him for peanuts. When the purse isn't peanuts, I sense that the fight will be more likely to get made.

The first lesson you learn in business is that it isn't fair. Mayweather gettin' that hot dog money. Kovalev needs to get that borscht money.

True, only one "Money I fit the American market perfectly Mayweather" But Kovalev is more compelling to watch at this stage of the game, and will make some good coin if he just stays on the steady, Hagler , Hopkins keep winning path. Of the newer people on the scene he is about the only one I can think of that is moving towards PPV interest for me.

Ya'll are totally underestimating the point I am trying to make!

If "Krusher" keeps up this nice mild mannered attitude even against Stevenson he would earn 2.5 million his highest payday to date which

is still pitiful. His only chance is to become the villain          that SELLS like Hotcakes!

Believe it or not with my personality at the multiple gyms I frequent I have the hot chicks throwing themselves at me at any given day...

Why? Because I am viewed as heartless and I absolutely could care less about anything or anyone and for some reason this type of

attitide builds up interest. "Krusher" needs to be more in alignment with his nickname and stop being a nice guy during negotiations.

If Kovalev inspired "Hate" he would be one of the richest earners in all of sports. The modest hardworking man from russia isn't going to

make him very wealthy :shame: :shame: :shame: :shame: :shame: :shame: :shame: :shame: :shame: :shame: :shame:

So what?
The guy still earned $500,000 for just 36 minutes of work. I should cry about that? How many of you make nearly that much in little over a half-hour?

If he's succesful enough and entertaining enough, then his purses will eventually escalate. But how much do you think he deserves now? He's still basically an unknown to the mainstream public.
Big purses come with widespread fame. He's a ways from that.

Not everyone is destined to make Mayweather or Pacquiao money, no matter what they accomplish.

And don't forget, there was a time when Mayweather bitterly complained about earning only "slave wages' with Arum and HBO.
He isn't complaining anymore.

It's $500,000 for 3 months work, he had to train and prepare for the fight too.

This mfer retarded or hasn't he been getting 25% of his purse previously if this is all going to regular sh!t like taxes (50%, this does seem kinda high unless he owes back taxes or something) & his manager/trainer (25%) as stated in the link. And he isn't gonna get much sympathy for me, taking home $125,000 for 30 odd minutes of a performance which is probably 3 times more than a comfortably living single person makes working 2,000 hours over the course of a year.

The upside here is with this influential W he can be complaining about only getting $250k of $1M or $500k of $2M soon enough.

I wonder if he's "in debt" to his manager who I think paid him an allowance instead of purses early in his career

Training camp is like homework. It's just preparation. You don't get compensated.

Ali said he only cleared $400,000 from his Fight of the Century paycheck in 1971. The state of New York took a huge percentage from the $2.5 million both Ali and Frazier earned.

If his promoter's cut comes AFTER the taxes already took 50%, then that's grossly unfair.

Do taxes come out of the purse right away? Because I am wondering if that was money he owes on taxes for the year? I believe he has fought 2 other times this year. IF he didn't pay out of those purses, maybe it is all coming out of this one?

It's all a wash at the end of the year if that's the case..

While I'm not sure if he has a standard arrangement with his team, it's a good reminder that fighters typically get much less than their total purse, and it's fairly common to see champions or contenders receiving much smaller purses than $500k.

I would assume everyone who Sergey has to pay is given their percentage tax free & then everyone takes care of their individual taxes from there. Sergey would just need to get their tax info to his accountant.

I've worked & still dabble in the poker industry & thats how things work there & this seems similar. I invest in a player so he can play a $2,000 tournament. He wins $100,000 in said tournament. Player keeps his cut of $49,000. I get my cut of $51,000. We both take care of our own taxes. If I don't wanna share my info for his tax documentation he'll cut a percentage out of my share to cover these taxes on his end.

Er it's actually $500,000 for a lifetime'so work... As you have to work for years to get to that position.

Anyway it's not a big purse for a unification against one of boxing's 'legends'.

You could say that about anything. Takes years to become a doctor or a teacher. Hell it takes years to acquire the skills to man a register. You can't go from pooping in your diapers straight to making change for a $20 on a $5.25 combo meal.

The guy is getting paid $500,000 for getting in the ring & boxing for up to 36 minutes. Thats the bottom line. Any other time he puts into things to perform well in the ring is a task he is doing on a gamble for future earnings more than this payday as his performance for $500,000 check could decrease or increase his possible earnings for his next bout.

Well however you weigh it, it's only 1% of what that boring, safety first 154 lb turd Gaywether earns and that cannot be fair to the boxing fan's mind.
