check out this rare photograph of Mike Tyson's neck by photographer Albert Watson that appeared in the May 22 1986 issue of ROLLING STONE magazine
back when Tyson was still in his prime.

The last fifteen years weight training and cross neck training along with 24 hours prior weigh ins have meant u see bigger necks.
Pazienza,canelo,weaver,Lionel butler,foreman,lacey.

The Great John L. Sullivan had a 17 inch neck girth.
(But no one was on the juice back in 1889).

George Foreman has a 18 inch neck circumference

Joe Frazier's neck measured 17.5 inches too.

Am surprised no one has mentioned Carnera or Valuev and Willard...
Carnera had a 19 and three quarter inch neck
Willard had a 17 and one quarter inch neck
Valuev had a 21 and one half inch neck... a record I imagine that won't ever be surpassed in boxing.

Joe Louis had a 17 inch neck,but it was also a long neck.
A lot of boxing analyis back then had said that would
have made him vulnerable to a knockout punch.

According to an article in 1997, Esch had (then anyways) a 23 inch neck.
In those early years of his career, Esch weighed 320 pounds and sometimes neared 400.
Don't know how much you can say was neck, and how much was fat though
That does make me wonder, though, the neck measurement of Claude McBride... he was taller than Esch and weighed just as much at times.
