Leonard Bundu is an example at the moment, not sure if you'd count him as a top contender yet.

Ray Mercer probably had the best success of anyone over 30 turning pro.

Mercer was 27 when he turned pro. Homocide, you need to start doing research.

28.... still.... an awfully late start to turning pro. (1989 minus 1961).
And you really need to quit using homophobic slurs, sir.

Didn't mean a slur, homicide.
No, you don't just automatically go 1989 minus 1961. He had not reached his 28th birthday yet. He was still 27.

If we're mentioning guy in their late 20s, Bonecrusher Smith, Antonio Tarver, Nate Campbell and Stuart Hall were all 28 when they turned pro.

Harold Brazier was a solid contender and a really skillful and thoughtful boxer, I think he was 27 when he turned pro; I liked to watch him box.

I reckon Dennis Andries. Claims to be 25 on turning pro but I think much older. I recall him giving his real age after a fight in a ring interview which was quickly hushed up.
