Yawn...... small in custody for allegedly trying to get jihadists over to Syria. Seems relatively minor, but I don't really know anything about the charge or the offense.

I think he got his passport confiscated so he can't travel. Small is the kind of guy who wants headlines, fame but does t have the courage of his convictions.

I'd let him have his passport so he can clear off, then cancel it so he can't return.

The irony is that when guys were joining Islamist brigades to get rid of Gaddaffi, those travelling were seen as heroes in the media

Same here - not only that, I would happily contribute to paying for his (one way) ticket.

I think Small is typical of Jihadists who love the advantages of the western world (including ironically freedom of speech), and love to have something to fight against. But have not the courage of their convictions to emigrate to a shariah run country nor to actually fight.

Small is like Chouhdary - he loves and basks in the attention but will never take a serious risk. I actually feel a little sorry for him..... How he went batshit crazy. He always loved the attention.

Prison, if he gets it, will be fornicate all anyway. Loads of brothers there. And three halal meals a day. Good times for him.

Small is in Choudary's little fan club.
I remember meeting him when he first turned pro and he was very quiet and insecure. He then covered that up by that horrible bragging act he used to do, then he joined Choudary's little gang and let's others think for him.

I've eaten Halal and kosher foodstuffs... I noticed no difference.

Agreed - would love to see the twat get sent to Iraq or Syria for a few months, then we would have the pleasure of sitting back and watching him squirm to get back HOME.

He's a dumb kid who has been manipulated. Sad really, they have to get tougher on people like Chouhdary who preach all the hate!

He don't realise that the people pulling strings, who want them to do those atrocities - are the same people they are 'fighting'.

It's all planned but they are too stupid to realise they are puppets, designed to be the fall guy, to justify troops conquering oil fields. To be splashed across the newspapers to anger the public. The corporations need an enemy to sell to the public to justify spilling our soldiers blood to take their oil.

The IRA set off hundreds of bombs a year, not one but hundreds - killing 1,781 and maiming ten times that - they even bombed the PM - and yet we set them all free as part of the ceasefire. One guy shot dead a young soldier on a checkpoint in the back with a sniper rifle - and he was set free just a couple of months later as part of the agreement.

Where was the 'peace keepers' when Burndi and later the Rwanda genecoide kicked off? they began on day 1 with the torture and killing of 10 Belgian soldiers - but the US voted against any action ! but quickly airlifted all Americans out of their embassies - and left behind the Tutsi staff that had served them for years to be slain in the street.

800,000 people butchered and they looked the other way. Yet behead a westerner on ground with oil beneath it and they will get 20,000 troops, jets and aircrafter carriers sent over !

Quite right Gomez, quite right, the west needs a bogeyman to justify wars over oil and other resources - it's amazing isn't it, that the Saudi regime, where people are regularly beheaded for trivial crimes, where women are banned from driving, and women are executed by Imams for being seen in public with men without a chaperone being present, is a great friend to the west - I wonder why that is?

All I will say that is when these 'fighters' were going to Libya to murder Gadaffi, Sky were interviewing these 'heroes'. Now Small is being slaughtered for getting guys over there to fight another legitimate leader.

Bit of hypocricy

London's Anthony Small...
hahahahaha

That's about right mate!!!

Jeez, that had me sweating for a moment, thought that was a link to a fuller article :o

Hope you're well anyway mate. Thanks so much for all your help and advice back then. I just don't have the time at all anymore, and I guess this was the final straw, where I just thought, eff it, I can't be doing with this.

Still got a great (even if I do say so myself) interview with Paul 'Scrap Iron' Ryan on tape somewhere (I hope, moved house and I have no idea where). May try to write it up in the summer - I'm in the penultimate year of my OU degree, so won't get the chance before then. I still owe Paul some DVDs, so if anyone who knows him reads this, please tell him I haven't forgotten, I just had a long break from boxing full stop, and I will get them done at some point (probably in the summer). It'd be terrific if anyone could, I've lost his contact details.

Anyway, I found Small a likeable guy on a personal level, which is weird as I hated his brash and arrogant TV persona. I don't like a good deal of what he believes in, but I could say the same for a lot of people. I was working with a guy a couple of months ago eulogising about the 'RA as he called them (he was from Crossmaglen).

Out of leftfield, if he came back now he'd no doubt be a middleweight. A fight with Chris Eubank Jr. would make for epic press conferences :DDD

Oh, and G0mez is right about Rwanda. Madeleine Albright refused to term the genocide as "genocide", as this would have automatically triggered a UN response. Instead she semantically called what was happening "acts of genocide" which removed the UN's obligation to act.

The French president Francois Mitterrand said something at the time along the lines of "in such countries [as Rwanda], genocide is not important".

A great book to read on the subject is "We Wish to Inform You That Tomorrow We Will Be Killed With Our Families" by Philip Gourevitch.

Slightly off topic (to say the least), this is a great read about Mitterrand and Ortolan:

In what way was Gaddafi a legitimate leader? He won power in a coup, murdered all his political opponents and brutally repressed any dissent.
He never represented the vast majority of Libyans, which is a huge country made up of different tribes and nations. Gaddafi stole most of his country's oil wealth for himself and ensured his continued leadership by military power.

He was very popular with certain tribes. He was always disliked by the tribes in Benghazi as that is where the royal family was from. However, the areas the Royal family let rot welcomed him with open arms. The 'revolution' was the brainchild of the eastern tribes and the Islamic militants. Tripoli, Sirte and Bani Walid all remained very pro Gadaffi.

Gadaffi spent most of his time killing Islamic militants; the same ones who have turned Libya into a terrorist, lawless state in his absence.

Good on him I say!
