These two are similar in one respect in that there were two distinct versions of both.
Holy 87-92 was one beast. The 96-99 version was the best older version.the older was stronger and had more power and nous but not as fast, not anywhere near that engine.
Either way holy beats him

I would say that Holy has two distinct versions for sure, I like to call the later version Evan Fields, by way of distinction.
Witherspoon could be in shape or out of shape, motivated or not, but I think there wasn't really too much difference between a fit Tim Witherspoon at either end of his career as a top ten ranked heavyweight.
I would take Witherspoon………………
and lock him in the gym for 6 weeks with a prime Dokes and Olly Mac for sparring partners, then watch him kick Holyfields butt.

Prime for prime a close fight but Holyfield's greater output gets him the decision.

I've always been a Witherspoon fan, so I'm usually a bit biased in respect of him, but I can't see him beating Holyfield.
It would certainly be a competitive fight, but Holyfield would in by UD with no KDs.

Tim beats Evander by UD, or late round stoppage, prime-vs-prime. Evander would not want to be caught by Tim's right.

Tim Witherspoon's overhand Right is one of my favourite signature punches.
I remember when Bonecrusher Smith rocked Tyson to his boots with a similar kind of punch (probably the only meaningful punch he landed all night) & it always had me thinking what would have happened had 'Spoon landed that on Tyson back then.

I remember after Holyfield knocked out Adilson Rodriguez in the summer of 1989, Ferdie Pacheco went through a list of potential future opponents for Evander who were around at the time. Donoven Ruddock, Orlin Norris, George Foreman, Francesco Damiani and Tim Witherspoon were all mentioned. When commenting on Witherspoon, Pacheco said that it depends on which Witherspoon shows up. Ferdie said that If Tim is well trained and motivated he could give Holy fits. I'm not sure how it would pan out, but I think Evander would have to fight for that win and likely take it on the cards.

both in their prime and boxing their best, I'd say Holyfield would win by decision after 12 rounds

That big right was the one Witherspoon did Bruno with. Nasty finish that.
Absolutely.
That was an odd fight for me because although I was always a Witherspoon fan, I wanted Bruno to win it for Britain.
