got you interested in Boxing?

For me it was Lloyd Honeyghan - I remember listening to his fights on the radio with my pa. Great times.

After the Ragamuffin Man got me interested, it was eubank for his absolute entertainment value that drew me in, and the guy that lived around the corner Mr Gary Mason.

I Was then hooked for life.

Which Brit got you started?

John Murray v Kevin Mitchell stands out. I am a late starter was a casual before.

Bruno,Benn and Eubank are the ones that stand out from my childhood

I was just getting old enough to appreciate it more when Naz burst on the scene,and he tore the place up in the 90's

Ive got Johnny Nelson's book and just reading about his stories being on the bandwagon when Hamed was in his pomp makes me nostalgic,he was everywhere back then,no it seems he's a bit of a recluse,apart from appearing at the odd boxing show,i never hear of him

He doesnt seem to do interviews and as far as im aware he hasnt wrote an autobiography,has he?

Eubank was my naz, buts that's not to say I didn't enjoy every minute of Naz. I was gutted when they had that little feud.

I make you right I don't think he has an autobiography.

Haha yes we did, it was the overseas fights that we would listen to on radio.

I remember listening to tyson Bruno 1 on the radio. I went back off to bed practically in tears. Haha

Family members really but Kaylor was somebody I wanted to look like. I had his haircut at school.

Vernon Sollas, John Conteh and Maurice Hope oh and Charlie Magri as an amateur.

Great days, Sportsnight with Coleman, Harry Carpenter......

ITV Chris Eubank - still my joint favourite fighter.

Sky - Paul Scrap Iron Ryan and James Hare. Around about that sort of time. Naseem and Ryan Rhodes and Benn shortly thereafter.

There'll be somebody I'm forgetting of course. As an 80s kid Big Frank was the main man of course, but this was a time when I'd never seen a match on tele.

Eubank, Benn and Bruno but also Hoko Hodgkinson. His seemed to be on the tele quite regularly in the early 90s.

My Nan used to tell me about her dad who was a bare knuckle boxer in London named Dido Plum. Not sure how true it all was but I come from a London/Irish family that all loved boxing so I remember being aware of Ali/Foreman although I don't remember the fight (I was six).

Back in the 70's boxing was on tv a lot - even small halls like York Hall. I remember Mo Hussein fighting & I also remember Ian John-Lewis when he was a fighter.

My cousin also went to school with Lloyd Honeyghan although I was well into boxing by the time he won the title.

Honeyghan for me which must be the case for lots of us who are around 40 and been into the sport since being a kid. First fight I saw live was Bruno v Bugner, White Hart Lane, October 24th 1987 I think which is from memory and not checking.

First fight I watched was Andries vs Harding. It was love after that.

Still love their fights to this day.

I also met Gary mason at a signing in a sports shop when I was 9. (Top trainers, do any of the locals to me remember that little gem from the past). Lovely guy, sorted me out with free gear.

Mike Tyson actually got me into boxing, but my first British fighter I was a fan of has to be Eubank !
Followed by Lewis, Naz and Hatton ! I also loved to watch Benn and Collins

Lewis and Naz got me interested

Calzaghe and Hatton got me hooked

I was at that fight,doesn't bring back nice memories for me,i was right in the middle of the crowd trouble

Frank Bruno, Errol Christie and a chap called Najib Daho - 'The Casbah Kid' if any of the older Mancs remember him - good fighter.

My domestic dream match up would be Daho vs Micheal Gomez - there would be nothing left of Manchester by the time midnight struck
but that would have been a cracker guaranteed.

Yes he fought the Aussie Barry Michael,again live on a Saturday afternoon,ahhhh great days

Even though i was too young to actually watch him fight, Barry McGuigan was the boxer that got me interested. My grandad loved to tell me about him and that set the ball rolling for me to get into Friday Night Fights on itv with Benn, Eubank. That led me to the late nights with mates from school watching the likes of Lewis on ppv at 4am before being old enough to go and watch the events live.
