An interview in The Independent on the 7th December.

Ahead of his anticipated comeback next year, David Haye says that his shoulder is now fixed, and he is "punching harder than ever". Britain's former cruiserweight and heavyweight world champion has been out of the ring since July 2012, when he defeated Dereck Chisora by a brutal fifth-round stoppage. Since then he has endured a frustrating time with injuries, forcing him to twice withdraw from a domestic clash against Tyson Fury. The first was because of a cut Haye suffered in training, the second because of shoulder surgery. Haye was advised by doctors to retire after undergoing major surgery on his right shoulder in late 2013. A five-hour operation looked set to end his career, but The Hayemaker has been stepping up his training, and hopes to fight again early next year.

"The shoulder is fixed, for me that was the most important thing. I didn't want to rush an announcement [on his comeback], have a set back, and have to have another six months out," Haye told The Independent. "I'm punching harder than before now because of the rehab. My right is now stronger than my left and is stronger than before surgery. "Trust me, 2015 is the return of 'The Hayemaker', I'll be bigger, better, faster, stronger, with a new plan."

Haye says he has one goal for his return, to win back his world heavyweight title. The 34-year-old lost his WBA belt by a unanimous decision to Wladimir Klitschko in July 2011. "Klitschko is still No 1, he took my title, and I want it back," Haye said. "I'm starting from the bottom you know, I'm not even in the rankings, I've been out for over a year, so my plan is to get back in there fast, work my way up the rankings.

"I don't think he [Klitschko] will give me a voluntary defence, I think it will have to be a mandatory situation, which is not a problem for me, I've done it before, [to face Jean-Marc Mormeck for the world cruiserweight title in November 2007] and I can do it again. Physically I'm in a good place and I know that everything will fall into place nicely. "The last few years I've been plagued with numerous injuries, but this next phase in my career is going to be the biggest and best, in 2015 people will be well and truly back on the band wagon."

....love him or loathe him, David would liven the scene up and the timing could be very cute indeed with things coming to a boil in the division. Hopefully this is not PR waffle either and a serious plan to fight is in place.

However, I do still wonder whether Wlad would fight him a second time though; David really got on his tits last time round and the fight was such a disappointing spectacle as well. Not sure that even the German fans - who want to see their fighter win first and foremost and are not always so critical of the action - would be filling a stadium to see that again.

David might be in for either a very long wait for WK (literally put to the back of the queue) or he's playing the long game and looking to win a title in a post Wlad world.

I suspect Wlad enjoyed the payday against Haye though. Haye can earn him more than anyone else out there, and probably add more to his legacy considering Haye is still the best win on Wlad's record.

Fair points and especially about the wedge they made together.

But in terms of legacy getting all the belts and being completely undisputed has surely got to be priority #1 for Wlad and I reckon that puts Wilder-Stiverne (if they ever get round to signing the thing) in the box seat right now. One of those guys will own the big green one which is missing from Wlad's collection....not Haye.

And I would not underestimate how pissed WK was with Haye either; WK still talks about this in interviews he gives and he's at that point in his career where he can just say; thanks, I am done.

My guess is that the Brits are not actually in the WK loop and we'll get Haye-Fury next year.....which would be more than ok.

Haye v Fury would be a good fight. I'd fancy Haye to win but I'm not as convinced as I was that Haye will just bomb Fury out quickly.

I used to think Haye in this one - but now I think Tyson. Which is also who I'd like to win but I'd be in no rush to see Haye on tele ever again.

edit: although I liked him against Fragomeni, that was a very good fight.

Thing with Fury-Haye is that Fury has yet to face anyone who can bring the trouble Haye can , or at least could. What's to say Haye is half as good as he was?

A very quick, big, big punching heavyweight with great footwork has yet to feature on Furys record...in fact nothing he has faced comes anywhere near close to such a description. I suspect I know why too but we shall see

Haye reminds me of a guy in a club who spots a fit lass hitting the shots early in the night, tells all his mates he's going to 'pull her', then proceeds to stalk and loiter until 2am when she's mortal drunk, and then practically carries her outside and shags her near the bins while she's being sick on his shoes. The next day he'll tell everybody who'll listen how much of a player he is.

Doesn't interest me at all, won't look forward to any of his fights just hope he gets beat when he comes back.

I'd say Wilder/Stiverne would be bigger because HBO would back it big. Wlad-Fury I think could be built into a bigger event in the next 12 months.

Other than that, nothing stands out.....

I can't see how Haye is a big money fight. There is no call whatsoever for a rematch. I was out in Germany for the first fight and believe me, the vast majority who went wouldn't go again. I can't see how Sky PPV could spin it. Fury, Wilder and Stiverne are MUCH bigger fights.

I dont think it would more than 12 months for Haye to again be wlads biggest money fight. That's if he is back to peak fitness, and comfortably takes out a couple of top contenders.

I know there's a lot of anti haye around, and I'm not ultra pro haye. However, he does have the skills to pay the bills and carries big power.

A fighting haye is good for boxing.

All Haye has to do to be as deserving as those challengers is knock over a coule of half decent heavyweights. Stiverne, once he beats Wilder, will stand out as the number 2 man because he actually has wins over top 10 heavyweights himself, but even then, it's no stand out huge fight. The best thing for Wlad would be for Wilder to obliterate Stiverne. That ain't happeneing because Wilder isn't that good, but if it did, Wlad-Wilder becomes a huge fight.

shouldn't matter. Wlad toyed with him like a cat toying with a mouse. No disgrace whatsoever in itself ....unless you went round saying things about Wlad and his brother, and then said afterwards you lost because you were sore, in your little toe.
