Manage a fighter

Everyone likes to pass opinion on wring matches at wrong times by promoters but if you were managing a fighter how would you build them?
E.g let's say you have an ex unlicensed boxer who sells tickets
Or amateur prospect who doesn't sell tickets
How would you navigate their way through the pros and what aims would you make for them from the outset?

in terms an of ex-unlicensed boxer who sell's tickets: depending on the shape he is in and how well he fights, match him against more exciting opponents who could make the result a big match and a crowd pleaser which eventually would make a few bigger names take notice while he builds his experience in the professional boxing world. then its just a matter of keeping him professional and training hard and you could have a crowd pleasing champion on your hands
looking at a ex-amateur prospect: use social media, Facebook, twitter and YouTube to show his skill off somewhat, make people notice him either for his skill or for his attitude, match him up competitively, a few journeymen fights to build his skill and experience but as he develops more competitive matches thrown in for good measure, this would eventually make people take notice and in the long run he'd be a good contender/champion.
