Derevyanchenko won last night by KO 1 against a Mexican journeyman Raul Munoz.

He's the first talented East European boxer to be managed by Al Haymon (I don't consider LHW Fonfara to be especially talented although he's decent).

Derevyanchenko like Khytrov is a potential middleweight champion. I'm hoping Haymon keeps him active in 2015 and moves him up fast.

Looking at his boxrec record, this site already accepted that Crimea belongs to Russia, while western governments don't.

By the way, why is he wearing Kazakh team t-shirt in this picture ?

He played for Team Astana Arlans in the project WSB. Derevyanchenko Ukrainian, represents Ukraine and comes to the ring with a Ukrainian flag. Crimea is Ukraine.

The site didn't accept anything. The Russian mods kept changing it to Russia with obvious political agenda and the rest of the mods didn't want to deal with it anymore. Also his name is Sergiy and the site also lists him as American. Must of been a quick green card into citizenship for Sergiy considering he fought in July for the first time lol

It's funny how boxrec mods have double standards, when Usyk tells them to list him as Crimea Ukraine and they refuse. But when a Ukrainian citizen's (derevyanchenko) manager tells them to list him as an American, so he can sell more tickets in the US, they accept. Pathetic.

No the correct place would then be Feodosiya, Ukrainian SSR, USSR. But boxrec refuse to write that too.

They want to be considered Americans by local judges. However, without speaking decent English, it looks ridiculous.

The same way, language of preference for most Ukranian boxers including Lomachenko, Usyk, Khytrov, Derevyanchenko is Russian, so they are ethnic Russians by definition of "ethnic". Even Kiev mayor and a leader of a Ukranian pro-western party, Vitaly, has to make pauses to find proper words when he speaks Ukranian.

First of all language does not equal ethnicity. Lomachenko, Usyk, Derevyanchenko are all ethnically Ukrainian even though they speak Russian. Khytrov might be ethnically Russian although I'm not sure. Regardless, ethnicity isn't what the current question is either. The issue is citizenship. Carl Frampton I'm guessing is a UK citizen and is listen as UK, while I'm sure ethnically he is an Irishman. We both know that Khytrov and Derevyanchenko are not US citizens and are definitely Ukrainian citizens because they represented Ukraine on the amateur level.
I just want some damn objective consistency from this site in this regard.

...political contents aside and not to impugn his achievements as a sportsman, is there ANY language he speaks including his native language where he DOESN'T make pauses to find proper words and still miserably failing...

Ievgen Khytrov is a Ukrainian boxer not an American one. Just because he fights out of Brooklyn doesn't make him an American. Same thing with Sergiy Derevyanchenko who is also a Ukrainian boxer.
