If memories serves me right, I read somewhere that Stevenson walks around close to 200 lb

Froch usually weighs in the low 170s in the ring, I think. Pretty sure he was 171 vs Kessler.... If he does ever move to 175 he'll be at a huge disadvantage unless he bulks up somehow. Kovalev is in the mid 180s, not sure about Stevenson, but I'd imagine he's upper 180s in the ring.

Stevenson goes as heavy as 220 in between fights this is one of the reasons his stamina is so bad, he drains himself getting all that weight off

Its been at least 2 years since Stevenson made 168, so its not happening since Froch is ready to retire.

Maybe catchweight is good idea, Froch dreaming about Vegas fight. Stevenson is well known (not so popular like Chavez jr. but still). This fight can make huge money, both are 37 years old, they dont get younger. :box:
Froch has a very good chin, but against Stevensons heavyweight punching power, who knows. On the other side, Carl can rally in later rounds and Adonis stamina and chin dont seems ideal for 12 rounds with Froch.
Or Stevenson will be fighting bums and Froch retire after he dont get Chavez fight ... :(

Froch isn't going to be moving up to fight Stevenson and Stevenson isn't moving back down. Pointless fight at this stage of Froch's career plus he's a natural SMW.

All statements above about this discussion being unrealistic are true, but we can still discuss.

Stevenson't weight advantage is too big, and I doubt that he would agree to a catch weight. If Froch was a real danger for Stevenson, the fight would never happen, as Haymon fighter equals a cherry picker.

Bellew vs Mayweather would be an interesting fight, unrealistic but discuss anyway.

Very funny. Was Bellew Mayweather's mandatory at any time ?

No he's at least 5 weight divisions heavier.

It's not pure fantasy at all.

It is one of the most obvious fights to be made for both fighters.

Well, Stevenson was Froch's mandatory less than two years ago, which makes your comparison stupid.

Carl Froch told Sky's Ringside TV program... “I don’t think he [Adonis] has any plans on coming back down to super middleweight , and I certainly don’t have any plans on going up to light heavyweight. I can’t see that fight happening, to be honest.

Carl Froch then told Sky Sports News that "If the Chavez fight doesn't happen, there's a strong chance of me retiring a happy man."

Adonis Stevenson became Carl Froch’s IBF mandatory challenger on the 20th October, 2012.

As per the stipulated rules, ‘The Cobra’ opted to engage in a title unification bout against Mikkel Kessler on the 25th May, 2013, rather than compete against a 20-fight novice (Adonis Stevenson) that had already tasted defeat to an anonymous name.

A couple of months before Carl Froch had even fought Mikkel Kessler, Adonis Stevenson had already made the jump to the 175lb weight division.

Therefore, there was never any real possibility of Carl Froch facing Adonis Stevenson… and if they had done (at 168lbs), then I have complete and utter confidence that the man from Nottingham would have overwhelmed the Canadian and scored a late stoppage in fairly dominant fashion.

Simply put: the calibre of the men that Adonis Stevenson has faced throughout his career (to plagiarise a phrase coined by the legendary Larry Holmes), weren’t fit to carry Froch’s jockstrap! :OhYes:
Your post was too long, I couldn't be bothered with it.

Froch vs Stevenson is a realistic match to make.

Froch vs Stevenson is not some wild fantasy fight. It is well within the realm of reality.

Stevenson is 37 and probably won't be around at the top level much longer. They should be looking to throw him into a big fight in 2015 and Froch might be seen as a better risk vs reward fight than Kovalev.

To say it is a fight that isn't worth talking about because it could never be made in absolute nonsense.

I personally can never see this happening in a million years. Chavez Junior or James DeGale is the only realistic match ups for Froch before he retires.
