Found a news article on my old VHS regarding the fight card that never happened in Hong Kong. It was pulled literally 1 minute before the weigh in. Those involved were Barry Hearn, Bob Arum, Mickey Duff and John Daly (of Rumble in the Jungle fame). An argument over the finances for the fight caused the show to be pulled at the last second (literally) and each of the above blaming one another.

Fights that should have happened that night were :

Herbie Hide vs Tommy Morrison - WBO title
Frank Bruno vs Ray Mercer
Billy Schwer vs Rafael Ruelas
Steve Collins vs Lonnie Beasley

It was a great card but sold few tickets. What a shame as it would have been a great card.

Yeah was disappointed as I was looking forward to the heavyweight fights which could've been a British double with a bit of luck

Yeah I remember des lynam I think, announcing it was off. The one that interested me the most was the Bruno fight.

what I remember was that it was cancelled at the last moment before it was to air,
and Tommy Morrison referring to Herbie Hide as"The Luckiest Black Man in the World".

It was on Sportsnight... You are right des lynam announced it...

I wonder how much those unsold tickets are worth to boxing collector's nowadays?

Morrison would have beaten Hide in 1994 by early KO. Either points win for Bruno or late KO for Mercer

That card was possibly inspired by
THE BRAWL AT THE WALL
a three or four card bout held in Bejiing China back in March 1993.
I think it may have been the first professional boxing tournament held in China.
I remember one of the bouts was Mike Weaver vs Smokin' Bert Cooper for the vacant NBA heavyweight title.
BTW has anyone seen any video of this bout?
