Springing to my mind is ruddock vs dokes and cooney vs norton.

Then there's the free punch which Ali never took on foreman. Any other free punches you remember fighters passing up on?

I think Jones- lebedev springs to mind. Terrible refereeing.

On the other hand I remember Pacquiao holding back and looking at the referee when he had the chance to batter Margarito. Very generous of him but also pretty dangerous to look away from your opponent!

Like Jones-Lebedev it was a case of Steve Smoger not stepping in quickly enough. Tapia was badly hurt by the final punch, which landed as Smoger wavered in stopping the fight, and he had been pummeled for the last three rounds and should've been pulled out well before the finish.

The chap in that rugby final not long ago.

As for fighters holding back,i remember Holmes doing that when he had Marvis Frazier in big trouble,he was almost begging the ref to step in.

Just watched that....hard for me to think of a more blatant case of someone hitting a downed opponent and of a less skilled world champion than Carlos Maussa.
