But looked like crap doing it.
Down three times in the fight from an unknown lanky Japanese fighter nobody had ever really heard of.

What exactly are the pair from British Isles? I must be living under a rock.

Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg unless I'm mistaken :)

He had Amagasa on queer street in round 5, then lays off out of nowhere while Amagasa taunts him. Rigo then proceeds to walk up to him with arms held wide and just holds him several times in a row.

That's what it looked like first time around to me as well mate, but I think if you watch closely Amagasa lands a straight right that has Rigo's legs doing funny things in one of the exchanges (whilst GR is loading up on a huge left) & that really buzzed him.
He's slowing down & getting vulnerable, but he's still bloody magnificent. The face of the Japanese mush by the end...
EDIT: BTW, watching it again, I see parallels with JMM at the same age. He's deliberately staying in danger more & loading up on punches more to make himself more fan-friendly, imo. Last couple of fights we've seen this (especially versus Looknongyangtoy (sp?)). Now people will dis him 'cos "he's getting hit & he's no longer untouchable!"

But that couldn't be, because this is the guy that many here place on their P4P list and said how he is better than Floyd and ahead of Mayweather in his boxing skills.
It could just be a case of ring rust though, who knows??

Rigondeaux doesn't deserve a top 5 P4P spot like so many seem to have him slotted into. It's just a matter of time before someone lays him out for good.

I haven't seen this fight yet, but getting dropped three times by an unknown (regardless if he was coming down in weight) doesn't bode well for him staying inside the top 5 p4p for long. Having said that p4p lists seldom seem to take into account recent showings as much as overall body of work. I'd suggest a real p4p list would work like the f#cking stock exchange with guys going up & down & off the list every month.
And its just a matter of time before anyone at this level gets laid out. Every unbeaten elite fighter is in a race between getting ktfo & retirement.

The way he has been jerked around of late it is no surprise that he lost a bit of focus (if that is what happened - I haven't seen the fight yet); I suspect he'd be sharper if a Frampton / Quigg / Santa Cruz fight materialises.
Looks like someone has uploaded the fight on YouTube already:

Thanks for posting this.
I thought he looked pretty sharp minus the 7th round tbqh. The KD's everyone is talking about seem to imply this fight was closer than it was. I had it 6-0 going into the 7th. I think Guillermo won the 8th thru the 10th & its over in the 11th so minus the 7th round it was pretty damn one sided from my pov. I do feel that outta the 2 KD's Guillermo took, only one seemed legit although it did seem like he was legit stunned. Seemed like it was a combo of Guillermo being overconfident (he goofed off a lot in the 7th round) & his opponent being quick on the ball. The second KD looked like there was some pushing type activity going on that led to it being a KD. It seemed like a bs call to me & Guillermo seemed surprised also. At the end of the day this mfer looked like he was auditioning for a role in the Japanese remake of the Elephant Man ffs so Guillermo didn't do that bad & if not for the 7th round it'd have been an outstanding one sided showcase type performance.

Actually, after watching it I don't really see what "looked like crap" about Rigo. Seemed like a good performance to me. Boxed well and mixed it up with a much taller, super-awkward opponent who was probably better than advertised (only previous loss since 2007 was against Ryol Li Lee which he later avenged). Sure, he had a bit of a scare in the fifth and a big scare in the seventh (two KDs rather than three) but otherwise hardly put a foot wrong.

Problem here is not Rigo. It is how many on the forum put Donaire on another level. As soon has you beat Donaire you are in line for P4P. And for being more fan friendly, maybe he should of choose another date and channel to please the fan.. I m betting on the fact that age is getting on you faster in the lower weight.

People rated Rigo too highly based on the Donaire win. Good fighter but not untouchable and among the absolute best P4P in my opinion.
It's not like this is the first time he's had rocky moments against a mediocre opponent either.

He also looked stunned, but one of the KD's was a push.

It may've been a push but I doubt that he would've gone down if he wasn't already on jelly legs.
As for Datsue's comment about people now going on about him not being untouchable, I think those people are justified in bringing that up. For around a year I've seen Rigo near the very top of P4P lists and depicted as some sort of boxing deity based almost entirely on his win against Donaire. To me that sort of praise was unwarranted given what he'd accomplished and the struggles he had against Cordoba and mediocre Roberto Marroquin.
Now that he's had rocky moments against another mediocre opponent, someone nowhere near the level of a Frampton or Cruz in my view, I think people should reconsider whether he's as good as they thought he was. This also makes me wonder how some would react if a highly rated fighter like GGG were dropped twice and hurt by, say, Caleb Traux; would it be unreasonable to take that as evidence that GGG was overrated by numerous people?

I've said all along that Frampton beats Riggo, I wonder if one or two people will start to agree with me now.
You lot should listen to me more often, I'm not usually far wrong. ;;-)

Funny how Donaire has had an awful 2 days without fighting. Inoue smashes up Narvaez one day and a day later Amagasa drops Rigo.

Nope. Rigo just tries to be fan friendly to get back on HBO. As soon as he faces a decent opponent, he will get back into his shell and win convincingly. He may not belong to top 5 (or even 10) p4p, but he will certainly beat Frampton.

quigg and frampton would be their ass beat......they would have a punchers chance. rigo has been dropped bf......was hurt multiple times agast marroquin. u dorky ass brits will lie to ur selves and at some point u'll start the shit.
this and ward should be taken out of the rating that way froch can be number 1 : )

Would this be the same Froch, who no longer cares about titles, achievements or ranking but just wants to get a big payday and a vegas fight then intends to remove himself from all rankings by retiring? Why would we dorky Brits want him elevated into a position we know is false above a fighter we know to be his superior?
Answer. We don't.
But if Ward doesn't do his job he should be removed from rankings through inactivity, as per the rules.
Just as I'll expect Froch to be if he doesn't have a fight arranged by the end of May. (fornicate, i'd have removed him after he went on tumble)
Everyone knows Ward is the man and nobody disputes that. Yet I keep on reading Americans gobbing off about Brits.
Back on topic.
I firmly believe Rigo is too skillful for Frampton and would be heavy favourite against any SBW
but you've just made as strong an argument as any dorky ass Brit could have, how Carl would be in with a chance against Rigo.
Lesser fighters have given him trouble and weaker fighters have put him on his ass.
And I wish people would stop putting Frampton and Quigg in the same bracket. Just because i might believe Frampton has a good chance of beating someone does not automatically mean that I give Quigg a chance
