Bey's IBF champ at LW,he took the title from Miguel Vazquez in possibly the worst fight ive ever seen

He fights under the Mayweather banner and got KO'd from John Molina when Floyd was there to watch him with the All Access camera crew in tow

18 months ago i would have strongly fancied Burns even in the US but i wouldnt back Ricky to beat any decent opponent these days,he's regressed that much,all these court shennanigans cant be helping and i think his confidence is shot to pieces

Im hoping Burns sees this as last chance saloon and uses it to his benefit but i dont think he has it in his locker anymore,i hope im wrong though,he's had a shite couple of years has Ricky and deserves a bit of luck

I have been told he's fighting Bey. Ricky gets his head screwed on and he wins this very easily. If Ricky reads this get yourself up to Peter Harrison for this fight. Definitely a easier fight the batholemew

so why wouldn't you advise your brother to get trained by Peter? With respect Peter and Ricky wouldn't gel I know both very well, you don't.

Bey looked very good against Molina until he got chinned in the last round. Molina was huge at the weight though.

Yeah never watched the Vasquez fight after what other posters said about it.

I did years and years ago to Ronnie Billy before he was training with you. My opinion is Peter would be better for Ricky than Where he is now. You had such a good relationship with Ricky that's what got the best out of Ricky but you learned from Peter. A lot of his methods will be similar. I can see why they wouldn't gel though probably the same reason why it didn't with you and Ronnie. Yes you 100% know and I dont. I want Ricky to do well and I see him going backwards with his new team. Would normally say he's made his bed so lie in it but I think he had that bed made for him ha

I hope if Ricky can get back to were he was up until the Mitchell fight he wins another title, Ricky was made to feel unsteady that night by certain people a he rose above it an boxed excellently, however it also made him think he became this puncher and he started neglecting what he was great at breaking guys up with his jab and fast combos while having a watertight defence.
I can. Honestly say not one single sparring partner ever wobbled Ricky and he gave some very well know top domestic fighters murder

I appreciate people like Billy are closely associated to Ricky but the idea that he is going to be able to do anything at World level again is lunacy.
The man is finished and If it is Bey or the other fella he will lose easily on points or be banged out late this time. FFS Ricky was being bossed by little Zlatican the other day plus the beatings by Gonzalez & Beltran etc (I'm not counting Crawford as he's clearly special). as for his new team, whilst the whole Essex set up with Hearn and his family and Simms is abit unsavory it wouldn't matter who trained Ricky at this point. Hearn wants rid of Ricky now anyway so when he gets beat bye bye from fast car

As much as i like and respect Ricky Burns i agree that he's finished at title level,he hasnt shown anything apart from heart and guts since blowing away Mitchell over 2 years ago,i'd be surprised if he can win titles at domestic level,

i know that sounds a bit extreme but anyone whose watched him since KO'n Kevin must surely see that he just cant pull the trigger any more,his jab looks forced and laboured,he toiled last time out against Lepelley apart from scoring a 1st round KD he looked pedestrian

He had a great couple of years and made the upmost of his ability and was riding the crest of a wave,now he's off it he seems to be struggling to even do the basics which is what Ricky's all about

Broken jaws,changing trainers,pending court cases,changing weights,fatherhood etc all draining him off every resourse that he needs,Burns hasnt got a big puch to pull him out the poo so is struggling to get over the finish line

To get back on top he needs to show some of that famous will and determination,luckily for him he seems to still have that but IMO since losing the momentum he gained over tha last few years,he's unlikely to get it back

What i will say though is Zlaticanin is a better fighter people are giving him credit for,Crawford's P4P material,Gonzalez is technically brilliant but if Ricky's going to be fighting at title level again then fast ,hard hitting,technical fighters are gonna be there in numbers

Mickey Bey isnt much cop although beating Vazquez is a great scalp,Barthelemy on the other hand dominates Burns easily

If 40 odd year olds drom Latvia are able to fight and go the distance then surely a former 2 weight world champ has a good chance as long as their punch resistance is still good,they know how to survive rounds,slip shots and tie up etc

Basically as long as Ricky were to know his role then fine,fighting 100+ fights would be some milestone,Burns has always said himself he isnt scared of defeat and he doesnt strike me as someone who's ego is so out of whack that he genuinly believes he can reach the top again(i mean if Ricky's at the stage of pushing 100 fights)

If Ricky is content to become a survivor then i wish him all the best but if he ends up like Danny Williams fighting in Latvia,Malta etc,throwing fights,coming in out of shape and just basically waiting to get themselves KO'd then i wouldnt like to watch that

It's not a dignified exit to keep on fighting after skills have eroded. The US fight is a chance to make one last bit of dough before hanging them up for good. Moving to Hearn was a mega mistake, and that timed with his career peak against Mitchell ended in disaster.

He is just an opponent now for the up and comers to have a name on their records now.

No idea of the real circumstances of the split between Billy and Ricky, but Ricky could do worse than go back to where he came from.

The time apart may have fixed things, but then again, i have no idea if that is feasable

I've no idea if it is feasable either, but if it was announced tomorrow that he was teaming back up with Billy it would put a smile on my face.
