Who is the current best British fighter?

Froch, Frampton and Joshua are the three best.

Brook is very good too, and McDonnell is decent.

Quigg, DeGale and Groves don't impress me. Amir Khan is very overrated.

I would have said Froch had this been 12-36 months ago. But I think that The Cobra only has a single fight left in the tank, as such I'd probably say Frampton as the number one British fighter... But then I'm biased.

Right now I'd say Froch but he's coming to the end of his career. Next in line IMO is Brook. He seems like a more complete fighter than Khan to me.

U have Groves to the options and not Martin Murray?

Murray is training hard as ever and he will be at the best form of his carrer in february.. for me he can easily handle Groves even at 168!

Froch, Khan, Frampton, Brook

In reality there all quite possibly on a par with each other right now. Froch has the best resume, but 2-3 years back i believe he would have dispatched that version of Groves very very quickly in both fights. He's lost a step and the rest of the pack have likely caught up. No shame in that. Khans depth in spite of his losses make him 2nd in my paper list, but it's unsure as to wether he is truly in the top class conversation until he gets another win against a top 10 147lber, Brook also has 1 top class win at 147lbs and needs to add depth to his resume, it's unclear what his recent machete attack has left him like physically right now, if he comes back at 100% he is in with a shout against most fighters in the division. Frampton has 2 very good wins over Martinez, and if he comes through Avolos thats another good name on his resume, again he's in a position where he needs to add top level depth and there is only 1 man for definite he is clearly inferior to in that division.

Quigg has a poor resume and is being poorly promoted and managed right now. I would suggest he is likely a top 10 fighter in the division, but would favour Rigo 99 times out of 100, think Frampton and LSC are good clear favourites against him.

Degale had a good year, and i would like to see him build on that by improving his level of opposition. If brought along correctly i truly believe he could become the UK's number 1 fighter when Carl Froch hangs up the gloves.

Groves gave an incredible performance against a faded version of the number 2 in the division, and even in the 2nd defeat showed some positives. He needs to rebuild around the world level with 3 good fights this year. I do wonder wether he will ever truly be the same after severing ties with the trainer Adam Booth.

Joshua is the chosen one, and is being vastly over thought of with not enough evidence to support it right now. He has a chance of becoming a premier heavyweight, but his matchmaking needs to be bang on the money and i don't see him getting good enough wins for at least 2-3 years to be able to stake a claim at being the best British fighter.

Mcdonnell is a good honest pro, but i believe he would lose to nearly all top 10 opponents in his division. I think the Ceja win will likely end up as the best of his career.

Martin Murray is a very odd one for me, he seems to fight at one level constantly, making bad opponents look good and good opponents look bad. I can't quite fathom out what it is but im not sure i believe he will ever win a world title, even if he fought the likes of Andy Lee or BJS. Again i would favour Golovkin, Lee, Saunders, Quillen & N'Jikam over him. The best win he has is either Blackwell, Spada or Khomitsky. Not great TBH.

Tyson Fury is certainly a name that could be in the argument, but i think he will likely lose to Wlad and then leave the sport. He's not a long term guy with his temperament and dietry routines and his resume doesn't have anywhere near the depth to be considered above any of the guys listed except Quigg.

Lee Selby should be mentioned he fights Gradovich for the IBF Fetaherweight title a fight he can win.

McDonnell looked really poor in his last fight need to get his act together If he is to beat Kameda.

Paul Butler at Super Flyweight should become a two weight world champion in March too ( though his first world title is considered a gift)

Thats a cracking list despite who's best ,all capable of becoming no1 in their division if given the big fights,some more than others but Britains got more talent just now than i can remember

Its obviously Froch but he is about to retire so better question would be who is the best after Froch.

...I'll go with Froch, Khan being the second best...

yes. a silver medal, world champion beat a number of top fighters, yet people keep saying he's rubbish or overrated, he's a very good fighter in exciting fights, tough little fuc ker, will fight anyone, don't understand what people want from boxers today.

Maybe I'm a dumb Yank and he isn't British, but if he is, he should be on this list.

Fury is British and yes his name should be on the list, as should Ola Afolabi's.

Supposedly FW was in negotiations with Rigondeaux. Not sure if Rigo/Frampson is in the works but I'd love to see it.

X2. In about 4 years I imagine Joshua will be the best British fighter.

Froch, although I think he is finished now. Brook, Khan, ( very very close ) DeGale then Frampton.

Kahn is ok,
I'd pick Bradley over him comfortably. Also it want that long ago he went life and death with a washed up lightweight

Its interesting the majority of people go for Froch in this poll yet practically nobody for Degale.

If they fight this year, my moneys on Degale.

I believe Degale will go on to surprise a lot of people on this thread.

I thout she got a gift in the Olympics, she lost that final. Only time I've ever seen the girl box!

More surprising is the nine votes for Frampton. Pound for pound I can't envisage him beating someone like Brook or Khan.
