Saw an old video posted elsewhere of Belfast cruiserweight Tommy McCarthy whilst still in the ams and it got me thinking has anyone on the board seen him box as a pro yet?

4-0 as things stand I really think he could be one to watch in 2015 as long as he remains dedicated and takes his career seriously.

He would be an ideal support fighter for the Frampton shows in Belfast but over and above that I think he can go on to have an excellent career himself.

Anyone got any thoughts based on his progress to date?

Iv done cuts for one of his fights think it was a steve wood or coldwell show at bowlers .Big athletic kid got a lot going for him and looks to be well schooled and heavy handed

Thanks Jon - your comments reflect my perceptions of him whilst he was still in the vest - big, strong, heavy hands and well schooled.

Surprised that there isn't more hype around his early pro development, despite him boxing in the 'unglamorous' cruiserweight division.

Hope he gets some TV exposure in 2015 as I am sure he has something to offer the domestic cruiserweight scene

I'm sure he boxed in Dewsbury when Sykes v Kay's fight happened it was a VIP show so will be on there website youtube channel

I am fairly sure he was a very good amateur and represented Ireland at few big tournaments.

Quality fighter Tommy. Big cruiser who hits hard and had a good amateur grounding with some WSB too. I've seen him live as a pro twice - he KO'd a body in the Devenish, Belfast and then another on the Macklin bill in Dublin. He's managed by Pat Magee who took charge of Brian Magee's career and also Kiko Martinez for a time, so Tommy's in good hands.

Tommy was an top class amateur and I believe he has all the tools to make serious waves in the pro game at Cruiserweight

I was just thinking about that myself. What would Light Hvy be changed to?
