Hello, according to

I think its a funner fight. Not as competitive, but funner. If there is more going on here than Miguel waiting to see if Floyd comes calling I think Saul should just begrudging wait on his ass cuz that is ultimately the biggest fight for Saul right now.

I would rather see a rematch with him vs Lara, or fight Andrade - even the Charlo brothers, but would like Kirkland too. Anyone that isn't 40+ or a blown up light welter or welter is good....like he has done so many times.

I actually like this fight better than Cotto/Alvarez but why in the world would Oscar let Canelo get in the ring with this monster? It's not like Canelo has a title to defend against a mandatory. Kirkland is BAD NEWS. Yeah, Kirkland hasn't fought for over a year and is a bit of a wild card head case but if anyone with a brain saw Kirkland's last fight vs an undefeated Tapia, they saw an absolute animal almost kill a person in the ring. Not exaggerating here. That was as brutal a beating as i've seen in many years. Canelo, doesn't have the game to hang with that. He's overrated as he is. Lara exposed just how limited he is.

Lets hope Kirkland can bring something more then what Angulo did. Stylistically brawlers are made for someone like Canelo, boxer with a punch. But if Kirkland brings sufficient heat he could overwhelm him. Canelo 70/30.

First of all I like james but its hard for me not to think he's a headcase at this point. Before we get too excited about all of this, lets hope he doesn't pull out for some weird unknown reason. Once we get past that point and into fight night Im really not sure what to expect. Ive never really seen either one of they guys go "backwards". We all know that Kirkland is vulnerable if he's caught cold, but we also know that he has real power at 154. Its still early, but im leaning towards canelo in a very entertaining fight.

Where has Kirkland been for the last year? What at his last fight in ac on the rigo undercard and he was an absolute animal that night, non stop aggression and never took a backwards step all night and gave his opponent a bad beating then he disappeared for over a year.

Hasn't Kirkland been out for a year or so?

If Kirkland doesn't get stopped in the first round while cold, he will brutalize Canelo. It will look like Cotto/Margarito I.
Canelo is a chump.
He is a diva and manufactured champion. He outweighed Floyd by 15 pounds and still quit like a bitch. He fought even (or a close loss) with Trout and Lara, yet he and his fans have made it seem like he proved that he is better than either. This is the typical shit that happens when a boxer is also a pop star.
However, he's Mexican ... but he looks white! OMG! He's a national celebrity ...
Colonialism
Phonies like Canelo make me sick. Hope he does make the mistake and get in with James.

That is just ridiculous. Compared to Floyd, Canelo is a real sportsman. He is fighting the best possible opposition in contrast with Floyd's cherry-picking and he doesn't try to rub it into a prospective opponent's face like Floyd or Cotto who are real divas.

Kirkland has only fought 3 times in 4 years? He isn't ready for Canelo, imo. Hope I am wrong though. I would much rather see Canelo try to get a belt by fighting Andrade. Fighting Kirkland is basically a nothing fight, imo. As long as it is a non title fight Canelo doesn't have to make weight.

This. I don't believe James "Crazy" Kirkland is the best possible opposition. I give Saul credit for some of his recent opponents cuz he did seem to up his game after being long criticized for poor opposition. Remember it wasn't that long ago Miguel's brother was one of if not the best guy(s) Saul had fought, but James is a big step down & doesn't even deserve to be on the shortlist to fight Saul right now.

You make a good point about Canelo fighting much better competition his last few fights. He does seem to get the judges scores to swing his way which I have been critical of, but has taken on Lara, Floyd, Trout, and El Perro. 3 out of the 4 are better than Cotto. Lara has not fought Cotto, but would beat him imo.

It looks like Canelo vs Kirkland is a done deal. They will fight on May 2nd unless Floyd vs Pac gets made, and if so will move from that date.
I would have rather seen Canelo vs Andrade, but do think this is a fireworks type of fight. Canelo KO early due to Kirkland being a slow starter, or a close fight and possible Kirkland KO late. Pretty even match-up, but got to give the edge to Canelo since Kirkland has not been very active the last few years.

Always the race card with you!

The whole "race card" term was created dismiss valid points about racial interaction. But it's easier for you to dismiss this. I'm not a big fan of traditional education, but take sociology or anthropology 101 and I think you'd understand the colonialism point better. I just think it's sorry that an entire country that looks mostly one way think that's looking another way is ideal beauty.
Can't be a race card if it's true ... right? Or is any mention of race, and the significant disadvantage/advantage it gives some annoying to you?
Let me guess, you must be part of a race that doesn't deal with all these things
daily. Life is GOOD!

fornicate out of here. Cannel fought nothing but chumps (HBO) on his way up. He has a few good fights, but that doesn't erase the 40+ garbage fights that landed him a title and mainstream attention. Floyd/Cotto came up much harder than Canelo.
Also, the big difference is that when Floyd stepped up, he dominated for the most part. (Except one fight that still gets at least one topic every six month here!) Cannel's "wins" against Lara and Trout were suspect, but no one even mentions it.
You can get swept up in the celebrity of things. But as a FIGHT fan ... not a TMZ fan or a Twitter addict ...
I see Canelo as what he is, proof that boxing is absolutely SHAMELESS when it comes to money. We all openly discuss how unfair the sport is and then support fighters who are examples of the very things we complain about.

Exactly. Anyone throwing out the term "race card" upon the mere mention of race doesn't live in a reality where race is a daily aspect of life from 12am to 12am the next day to one degree or another due to the race they happened to be born.

i cant even go on a boxing forum now without racial issues being discussed. Racism does exist and the race card does exist, because people exclusively believe that only one or the other exists is the reason Populations in the western world are still so divided...
Now back to kikland canelo fight, I really like Kirkland, but hes a headcase and is too unpredictable to call in any fight. He could come in and smash Canelo, likewise he could get stopped early. Either way, all that can be 100% said is that if it happens, it will be a very exciting fight that i believe rests with how kirkland is on the night, as i honestly believe he is aggressive enough to overwhelm canelo.
