Boxcino Heavyweight Quarterfinals
February 20, Turning Stone Casino, Verona, NY

Donovon Dennis (10-1) vs. Steve Vukosa (10-0)
Razvan Cojanu (12-1) vs. Ed Fountain (10-0)
Andrey Fedesov (25-3) vs. Nate Heaven (9-1)
Mario Heredia (9-1) vs. Lenroy Thomas (18-3)

Any thoughts about the winner? I think that Fedesov and Cojanu is the main favorites

I'm rooting for Vukosa. He was a top amateur back in the 2000's. Idk what happened but he only boxed pro for two years then took a 12 year "hiatus". Now he's back. Already gots an impressive W over Jason Estrada. He is 37 though.

The favorite is easily Andrey.

Should be fun.

i noticed vukosa's win over estrada. might have been impressive 5 years ago. not sure how fat jason is now though.

Nah each tournament section is on different nights.

Off a 12 year break from boxing to beat Jason Estrada when the best guy you beat previously was Francis Royal in your 1 year of pro boxing experience isn't impressive? I mean sure it coulda been more impressive a few years ago when Jason was a lil more cherry, but it was impressive this time too.

Come on boxing fans with your unreasonable standards of whats impressive.

Given Fedosov's wins over Mo Harris and Darnell Wilson, I'd have to assume that he's way ahead of the rest of this tournament's pack.

Fedesov is likely the best of the lot despite his 3 losses. Looks entertaining.

Fedosov is the only boxer in the group ranked in the top 50 in the world per BoxRec. He has much more experience and faced better opposition too so he has to be the favorite. I'm hoping for Donovan Dennis to win and a rematch with Nat Heaven along the way would be great.

Dennis while a slick boxer puncher, and probably the best overall skilled has been ko'd by 2 guys in this tournament already (Heaven, and Heredia).
I still wouldn't be surprised if he does well in this tournament though.
If he gets past Cojanu I say he takes it.
Cojanu might actually be the best though. Should be interesting, and the winner will automatically be somewhat of a player in the hw division, and earn a better fight.

Has anyone seen Conjanu fight professionally?

All I can find of him is a clip from the amateurs, and I was not impressed.

Agreed. Heaven vs Dennis in a rematch would be fun to watch, as the previous encounter was my fave KO of 2014.

Fedosov or Cojanu will win this tournament in my opinion.

He is pretty big... decent skills... here are Hls vs Pucheta:

Here he gets floored face first and gets up to win it vs undefeated puncher Mataele :o

His only loss is in his pro debut which was because Morales just was much busier

Biggest problem is his hands are low and his chin exposed... but he does have nice hands when he sets his feet right.

I would liked to have seen Daniel Martz, Travis Kauffman, and Grano in this tournament.

But will I still eagerly look forward to it? You bet ya.

I hate to say it, but these guys are all just no-hope journeyment. This literally might be the worst FNF card I have ever seen

Boxcino Heavyweight quarterfinal weights
Donovan Dennis 222 vs. Steve Vukosa 218
Andrey Fedosov 220.5 vs. Nate Heaven 227
Razvan Cojanu 265 vs. Ed Fountain 236.5
Jason Estrada 261 vs. Lenroy Thomas 237

I disagree about the quality of this FNF show. 4 evenly matched heavyweight bouts featuring 4 guys with winning records and at least 10 bouts each. Now most are untested prospects or journeyman I think those kinds of bouts make for great entertainment. Fedosov is 25-3 & #38 world rated on BoxRec. Cojanu is 12-1 & #89. Fountain is 10-0 & #131. Vukosa is 10-0 & #145. Estrada is 20-5 & #150. Dennis is 10-1 & #180. Heavan is 9-1 & #203. Thomas is 18-3 & #224.

The only reason I believe that there are only 2 boxers ranked in the top 100 on BoxRec is they have to sign with Banner Promotions to be part of the Boxcino tournament. A lot of the higher ranked boxers are already signed to a promoter or a manager who may not wish to sign the boxer to a contract with Banner. I still like the idea of this tournament and applaud Banner for putting it on.

My predictions for tonight are:
Dennis wins a close one.
Fedosov wins easily.
Cojanu wins a decision.
Estrada wins in what will probably be the worst of the 4 fights. Two guys who don't go for KO's and have relatively low KO% facing each other. Estrada as a late replacement weighed in the heaviest of his career. That doesn't bode well for a lot of punches being thrown by Estrada.

I've seen Cojanu fight live. He looked like a stiff to me, but then his opponent was terrible and he may have been going through the motions--it did look like an uninspired sparring session.
